• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 Husky teams

Husky449

Husqvarna
AA Class
Does anybody know who is riding for any Husqvarna teams next year? Other than the WEC team I have not seen any other teams announced. I get the impression that there is no MXGP team next year either as I did not see it on the youthstream site of official GP teams. Team Ricci went to TM's. Come on BMW...what are you doing???

MX (and all racing under the OEM label/banner) is a super costly endeavor for a factory thats why the whole thing is going to private teams/orgs like most all other racing series'.

I hear ya ...

Reality is, bmw is a street \ DS bike company on the motorcycle side of the business ... The dirt bike side of bmw motorcycles, Husqvarna, is not getting too much play at this moment in time ... Why did they buy Husky? Maybe it is just to pimp out the brand name for what we are seeing made at this moment in time with a Husky name written in very small letters on the bike some where ...

Who wants to develop a skinny, powerful 250 \ 450 dirt bike when you can design and build one of those huge, complex road racer bikes bmw just made ... We have the wrong VPs in place for dirt bikes within the company ...

Too bad on the MXers...No it sucks big-time ... Lets hope the rest of the dirt bike line does not shrivel up on the vine ...

If they total the brand, so be it ...I have a 08 WR250 that I rode today and it is an awesome trail bike as compared to the 08 and 010 TXC and TC 4T bikes I also have... And it'll out last my 54 yr old butt I bet through the years ... I'd never expect either 4T bikes to out live me ...

It's only a matter of time before BMW steps in. When the do, the bikes will be the best in all the magazines and in racing. Then everyone will complain the husky's lack personality lol.

We need to chip in and start a cafe husky team :)

I try all the time to get any one who owns a Husky to come RACE it and for some reason
I AM THE ONLY ONE IN THE DESERT But 2013 is just around the corner and so is the first National so maybe next year will be different Either way I will be back out again ON A 2 STROKE HUSKY

bmw is standing waist deep in Huskies dirt arena now and if your words play out, there is no Husqvarna dirt bike company ..

You're doing a great job out the Ajax ... And yep you need some company but my transporter is busted so I can't get off this island to come to your desert ... :( ((and I just got a 08 WR250 2t machine.... rode today and it felt like a champ on the first ride ))

Any cafe team and Coffee is the rider of choice ...

I find it a real shame that BMW/Husqvarna do even seem interested in sponsoring more riders or at least some satellite teams. I also find it a shame that people are so stupid they will buy a Honda or Kawasaki that are $2500 more expensive in Australia rather than be seen on a Husqvarna just because some Pro in a bike mag says they are not as good as a pumpkin. They are still on Par or better than any of the Jap bikes. So the 2 stroke does not have electric start, so what**************************************** Have all the riders today gone soft??? They are such fantastic bikes that 99% of people will never be able to ride to their full potential yet people are so set in their ways they will not give them a try. I fear for the brand in the long run. TM who only make 3000 bikes a year have factory MX teams in GP both classes!!! I remember when BMW took over the brand and the CEO of Husky cane to Australia and said they would be taking on KTM and the Japanese brands in the next 3 to 4 years. Well, we are still waiting!!

We are coming back on the right coast! I know 5 new Husky riders just in the past month here in VA! I like to think that I have positively influenced them and their purchasing decision. 3 of them have the ability to have very bright futures in the offroad community.

Fear for the long run of the brand? We're see about this when and if any new model dirt bikes models are released ... They better not be burning any newly built bridges on these models. And I don't understand why they are so anti-racing in the dirt ... Must be some lag-hang-over from the bmw side and that has not quite come to grips that their dirt bikes are very good machines and deserve a few more bucks tossed their way... ... Currently, some VP must like Dakar racing apparently ... That's cool but it ain't MX racing ...

I'm looking into going the whole pie on a Husky racing team possibility this yr and doing their MX racing series to some degree ... I still need to get a few more details on the business side first though ... But they seem to have a very easy entry into their business of team racing ...

I've been racing my TXC250 some for exposure for ~2 yrs off&on and now have more Husky bikes so maybe the team entry is in the cards next ... Dirt bike racing is a grassroots type, local, big deal to the areas where the races are held ... Crowds love the racing ... So far, no issues with any of the bikes racing on several different levels ... Including one of their PRO level riders racing the TC250 ...

Not sure what this will do for the brand but the crowd and riders seem to like Huskies :) ... Plus, being a foreigner here helps also as the locals really like seeing us ride ...

EDIT: Might be some free boats rides here to races as a team and ~only the upper crust of riders will make money here ... Best thing for the Husky brand here is just run the bike out front in a moto and gather prize money...

Good luck to all you guys racing in the states ... Maybe HuskyNA will wake up some day quickly ...

I think they are just taking it a step at a time. They've managed to create the 449/511 (I know how some of you feel about the regurgitated BMW motor but the whole bike still costs for R&D), update other bikes, hire more personnel to handle the case load, build a better inventory of parts, and revamp the dealer list. They've also spent a lot more in advertising. Husky wouldn't exist and if they did it would be pathetic what was left. Thankfully BMW saw something in them and has invested a tremendous amount of money into them. They are working their way up to some major model changes. Patience will work out in the end.

BMW is going about this the right way. They know they'll have demand but want to focus on service first. Even if everyone wants one, parts availability and customer service will steer everyone away. Might as well take care of logistics first.
