• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 Husqvarna product line

looks like only TXC and TC models of the 250... That displacement is essential for racing, but not so much for a dual sport.

Maybe no 250TE will drive some riders to get on the 310 sized engine and open some eyes ...

Nice guide ... Gives some good comparisons at the end and attempts to break down all the different components on each bike in a readable manner ...

Is this an additional bearing on the crank or what?

Between the cases, an added crankshaft bearing inside the ignition cover gives the motor a touch of fine-tuning for smoother operation and improved longevity.

And that is a very short piston shown in the guide ...

From the descriptions it sounds like an outrigger bearing in the ignition cover to mitigate crank flex. I'd like to see some pictures!

There's a picture of the Red Head that shows Del West valves - sweet! The engineers have also resurrected finger rockers - probably to allow more radical cam timing. It appears that valve clearance adjustments still require cam removal, but hopefully those top quality valves mean that after maybe one adjustment at breakin everything should stay solid for a long time.

Keihin F.I. on the X-Lites is a good move. I wonder how easy it is to get the TXC mapping flashed to the TE...

I'm told the new 310's put out a lot more power now and the throttle bodies are 42mm which is bigger than the ones on the ktm 500's. The 310 was already competitive in the 450 class, and I am sure it is still plenty capable.

That guide states the valves are bigger and the cams have more lift ... Big Daddy Don Garlits says thats more HP 101 ...

Lets hope the power gain for the 310 is not just mid to top rpm's. The specs and engineering changes look great. I can't wait for some ride reports.

Thats good to hear. I won't be in the market for awhile...but when my 2007 gives out, I'd like to know there are options. What a great bike...wow, it's fun.
