  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TC449 pipes?

Who as changed the exhaust muffler and or full system and how were the results in power changed? I see a lot of references to FMF exhaust, but little info as to how it changed the power or performance of this bike.

I have noticed that the muffler in my unit seems to have the last 1" or so on two sides flaired toward the center of the muffler and I can see where that could increase back pressure and reduce exhaust flow.
Is there any real reason these flairs are there?

I also see that the exhaust pipe ID is much larger than the muffler ID and thus will also create excess back pressure. I have had several other brand 4 strokes over the past 14 years and none had a smaller ID at the muffler that the ID of the exhaust pipe.

There is no spark arrestor screen in the unit.
Can and or should I do something about the inward flairs?
Can they and or spark arrestor be removed?

I have the full TC499 FMF mega bomb system off Tys bike I got via Tinken recommendation. It is very good and makes a lot of power. It did require some tuning as it is very free flowing. My bike is a monster now. Map3, JD, FMF, BF removed. Runs amazing and is FAST.

Where do you get the "Map3"?
What is the "JD"?
Is the "BF removed" the removal of the butterfly in the throttle body? If so, why?

PawPaw has TC449.
Your right, had a duh moment while writing another thread... haha

I have a TC449 ecu as well, great map already installed. I installed a Powercomander 5 on top of my TC449 ecu and I wrote a map that increases both fuel and my ignition curve.

R.Stephen used to race the TC449 and he used a JD tuner on it. I believe he uses the PCV now, but he would be a great resource to explain how each unit worked for him based on the TC's mapping curve.
