  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 te 449 mods

triumph doug

Husqvarna
C Class
I am looking to buy a 2013 TE449 soon and was wondering what modifications work well with this bike. Such as pipe and header, fueling, and how to remove the smog from the california models.

Welcome triumph-Husky Doug. You will enjoy the site and really love your bike. They are a quality product and on a par or better than other offerings out there. Whilst you see more and more about which is good they are just that little bit unique, which I like.
The folks on this site are most helpful and very polite. Feel free to ask any newbie questions without fear.
Enjoy your new weapon.

Thanks ghte. The more I read on this site the more I understand how excited, and helpful everyone is about their bikes. There area lot of good trails in my area and i can not wait to rip it up on my Te. I am glad i found this site and now i have plenty of ideas for the bike.

What header do I buy for my 2013 te 449. I can't seem to find one anywhere. My motor is stock with race map 2, and power core 4. Please help me.

thanks alot

I'm actually having ProCircuit slip on pipes made for the 449 if you can wait. They are much higher quality than the F brand commonly sold now for much less $$ than Akropovic.

Thanks Tinken! I am new to this site. I appreciate a response.
Yes I can wait. I just want to be able to buy a header for my new te449 before spring, and was having trouble finding one. I have heard of people buying a header that fits a tc and having to modify it.
Do you work for zip ty?

I want to order the oil recovery system that zip ty has advertised. I bought my bike ln april 2014 in Sac CA at Good Times Motorsports. Brand new 2013 with o miles. After 1 ride my engine is covered in oil. I am so pissed off. WTF! After having it now with 1600 miles, its winter almost, so I put her away until I can address the problem of not being able to fill my oil up all the way without it making a mess of my new ride. I had it serviced recenltly (at 650 miles), and the dealer underfilled the oil because of this problem. I think this is a bullshit problem. Here you have a brand new bike and you can't even put 1 qt of oil in it? wtf. I will be ordering th zip ty racing kit that is advertised on net very soon. Hopefully it is worth the 300 bucks?

Later on , please let me know when the header is available for my bike. I will buy it.

ps. Does zip ty remap ecu's? I am thinking about the race map 3 reflash, but am unsure. Is it something that I should do? Is it worth it? When I order oil kit next week, it would be cool to mail zip ty my ecu and have that done as well. If you work there dude or know somebody that does, maybe you could help me figure this out bro. Thanks alot man for your reply. Jamie

Check ebay FMF for the header pipe.
I run the PC4 without the header pipe.

In regards to modifications , check also the Butterfly removal post from Dangermousse .
You can get the Akropovic Software update (map3) from your Husqvarna Dealer .

You can join our Husqvarna TE TC TXC 449 511 owners forum on Facebook.

FMF is too loud IMHO, even with their insert. Can not pass sound check for organized rides. Always have to install my de-catted stocker for these rides.

The FMF with normal spark arrestor insert, and my pod filter with no airbox is louder than my crf450r with a yosh pipe and no insert. Think ruble the earth when the bike goes by wide open at the track.

Thumpers are LOUD.

With the tiny quiet insert is is perfectly acceptable but the power loss was too much for me at high rpm

ProCircuit is quiet compared to FMF and built much better, but not as quiet as Akropovic. The insert may be a good option for you since you're not holding the bike wide open.

Apache if you want to go full boat...

Almost forgot...Welcome to the board Triumph Doug:cheers:

You're gonna love your 449, I sure dig mine! Even with all the lousy stuff you may hear, the TE is the best bang for your buck and I am stoked to this day I didn't go Orange. They are well supported by some of the sponsors here on CH and those dudes from down under have done quite a bit of good for us by finding some great ways to perform easy do-it-youself mods if that's what you like.
