• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2013 TXC310R stuff.

Husqvarna
Pro Class
after one day of riding at lake elsinore mx track for a first taste of the red head.
And now After 2 solid days of riding "a" 2013 TXC310R in our well know local riding area. What did I find and what did my crew say as well.
Me first, revs faster has more "hit" than my comparison bike (my 2011 TE310 in 2012 in 2012 TXC engine spec).
Has less torque from bottom is more racey higher rpm power band of an engine.
suspension needs heavier springs for my weight (of course). As is my RaceTech/ZipTy (kyb open chamber fork-sachs shock) suspension is quite a bit better than the oem 2013 stuff KYB closed and KYB shock) (all my crew agree to that)
Bike feels much lighter than my TE even the steering feels more flickable.
All the good qualities are there- brakes as good as ever, shifting same, clutch same and great, overall feel very close but just better more racing refined.
Truth is all my crew of solid late model KTMs most all set up very well for Bs and A riders. To a number, all like my TE310 better...... but my TE is really a super well set up and race prepped machine not a very new oem stock machine.

I would also do the same final drive change to the 13 I did on my 11, 13/52 (oem is 13/50) and as with my 11 I was having a tough time staying smoother in 2nd gear in the really twistys.

Big question will i park it in my garage, simple answer yes soon i hope, then i will go about makin it mine with all my standard bullet proof and personal mods to make it a smooth easy super non tiring on the trail machine. suspension first pri 1 only springs no need to play with valve stacks. bike is full on rock and roll it a sharp edged hard enduro/xc weapon

Will ride the thing more this week on familiar trails, will deal with and not think about undersprung (for me)suspension, focus will be on engine and how it works -for me- as far as power goes.At this moment the low end torque of the my black head makes me feel like I get through stuff better than the high strung feeling of the red head. Also no gearing change so will need to take that into consideration as well.
So far all I would do is change springs for proper sag settings for my over the avg weight, and add 2 teeth to the rear, reglue and wire the grips (they are twisting around)and fix the starter button that was beat up from none other than Wattsy. (name drop). I would like to know what he said about the machine. Oh yea and like my 11 model (same thing was on my 11) fix the oil weep from the starter shaft assembly area.

PS just got email word from the guy from Maffra, he really did like whatever model 310 he was riding, he didnt know exactly which one it was. I definitely want to get in on one of his dirtwise schools.

Ya know, almost went to Elsinore Sunday. First, was gonna go to Cahuilla but the weather was way to cold. Then, the Mrs. suggested going to Elsinore. But, I ended up pissing her off. So, I opted to stay home and take her to lunch.

On to the bike. So, would you say it liked the Elsinore loam and tight confines of a track, or would you say it craves the wide-open spaces of off-road and/or enduro?

I know how my 2012 is on the track (especially Elsinore....it pulls like a tractor), but I'm curious as to whether or not Husky is getting things dialed in to a more "moto" mindset.

The TC250R was stated to a number to be by my crew too moto for our latest test ride in the offroad arena, what does that mean, it works best in the track environment in its oem form but if properly set up correctly for tight trails as seen by FAR and others it will do the task as well.
My crew member and former worcs pro liked the TC250R on the vet track at LEMX (the Husky test day site) he was bouncing it off the rev limiter. And at my skill level it was a great bike out there.
I think most folks will find the new new head TC with the Keihin FI is way closer in the feel dept with the other major 250F brands.
I did not even test the TC250R at our spot last weekend.
My seat time has been on the TXC310R most now 1x at LEMX and 2x on the trails down here. I like the thing but for me it needs mods, also it is a more rpm demanding machine. my 11 310 is a lower rpm torque beast for such a small displacement short stroke engine. The new 310 is more narrow focus. I'm sure I'll end up with one and spend some $ to get it dialed in for my taste/skill set.

That would make sense since they put larger valves in and increased the timing degrees on the new cams. One thing I did notice on the inside of the new heads is that they didn't increase the port size by much, but they left large amounts of material in the area for race porting.

T-Mec,
PS in your MX travels if you spot the Italian Team trucks at one of the SoCal tracks intro yourself to Oreste (still fast retired EU pro) and drop my name. He lives right near LEMX and spends lots of time there with students and team riders.

this guy.

No kidding!! I see those guys all the time!!! For sure I'll go introduce myself, drop your name and try to get some free swag :D.

Speaking of celebs/Moto types, I was at Ralph's on Temecula Parkway last night (the one on the right just before you head out towards Anza) and ran into Twitch and his Wife - nice kid.

after 4 days of riding the red head now i think i have a better understanding. she is very sweet and very sporty. in work on adopting her into my stable.

I am about at the 90% yes just running the numbers, weighing in on the sale of the TE310. this test period has been very worthwhile

also after these days of riding I may think to stick with the 50T rear sprocket for a while.
