• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2014 WR250/300 Questions

With the really great prices on these bikes I have some questions. Alot of people have mentioned how tall they are....are they too tall for a 5'7"/5'8" rider? They do have lighting coils don't they? I haven't seen many lighting kits specific to the WRs. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I notice they still have the cable operated clutch...how's the pull? Do they need a hydro clutch? I really like the uncluttered look on these bikes and I like the looks of the zerk fittings on the linkage. This bike looks really easy to work on. Mikuni carb? Any feedback from the 2 stroke owners would be great. Are the titles marked "off road only"? Let it rip......

The bikes are awesome. They are a bit tall, i'm 5'10 but after some time its settled a bit and I've got no problem getting both feet on the ground.I couldn't seem to get a handle on the mikuni jetting so opted for a keihin pwk now people are using a lectron as another option.I've got 302 hrs on the bike and the only problems I've had have been self inflicted. No mechanical problems at all.Actually I had to tighten a screw on the shifter drum once.

I'm the same height and I don't have a problem with it.

Yes, they have lighting coils and come with a light kit in a box. ( or did ) May be why you don't see so many kits.

I don't have a problem with the clutch since I switched to a Motion pro cable. I don't think the need a hydro clutch.

I switched the Mikuni carb out. I hate that carb. I switched them out on the Honda CR250's I had that had them also. I like Keihin carbs much better.

Some folks are OK with the stock carb. You might be one of those.

I love my WR, but they aren't for everyone.

Ive done 52 hours on the bike and 5 hare scrambles this year. Stock carb. Motion Pro cable. Various other mods and protection parts. Bike has been a tank. One hiccup was the flywheel nut. Came loose at like 4 hours I think. Dealer covered it.
I will be doing another race season with it in 2014 and looking for a new bike. Who knows what the future will bring for Husky 2 strokes but I will be on another 300 2 stroke without a doubt.
