• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 2015 Husky TC 250.. running rich

monkin

Husqvarna
A Class
Heres whats in it now..

Needle..N1EG 4th clip from the top
Main..160
Idling..45

I have as spares..

needle..N1EH, N1E1
Main..158,155
idling..42,40

Anything I can do with those combinations to lean her up?

Thanks

just a mention my float height was very high from the oem, caused terrible gas mileage until i dropped it to the max side of the spec.

Definitely check the float height. If I'm reading you right your needle is in the more rich section of the needle. I'd drop the needle. Raise up one clip position (3rd). What mix ratio are you running? My 14 tc250 calls for 60:1. You could just be oil rich in your mixture if it's causing it to splooge out the silencer.

I fear I may have opened a can of worms.

Other than a quick blast on one of the TCs I know nothing about them but all the guys that own one here in the UK use a Suzuki needle in their bikes from the conversations I have had with them so maybe worth a search.

Thanks Guys. I'm running 50-1 amsoil interceptor.

I installed the N1EH needle (leaner) on 4th clip, 160 main and 40 pilot. All Husky parts
that came with the bike. It runs much cleaner. Plug looks good and no spooge. Yea

A buddy did suggest the suzuki needle and is sending it with a 168 main. He said use the 42
pilot with the suzuki needle also. I'll try that when it comes but it seems to be running
pretty well now.

I worry about running too lean..but seems ok. Not trying to start a jetting war. Just
curious what everyones experiences have been.

I will report back the results with the suzuki needle.

Thanks again for the replys.

I had the float out but didnt change anything. Curious though..how would I change the height?

Didn't see any adjustments on it.

you bend the tab down with the carb upside down this will lower the fuel level in the bowl and lean it out every where

quick and dirty check is to turn on fuel and slowly tilt the bike to the side and look for overflow of fuel from the bowl overflow line. Cant say an exact angle but mine leaked at like 10 to 15 degrees, it would leak when bouncing down the trail. mine is somewhere 30-45 degree now before leakage....this is only a quick and dirty field check. Setting the level properly to the correct number is proper. I forget the number but I thinks its between 6-8mm I set mine to the higher number side of the spec (lower float height).

It doesnt leak til its tipped to about 45 degrees, Another dumb question...how do you measure the float height?

FROM THE BOWL GASKET SURFACE TO THE FLOAT ARM WITH THE UPSIDEDOWN AND TILLED TO ABOUT A 45 FORWARD NOT RESTING NO THE NEEDLE NOT HANGING BY THE HINGE PIN

Thanks Troy

After riding it today its still rich. I have a line on a suzuki DW needle and a 168 main.
Will check the float also.

Supposed to be a good setup..we'll see. If that doesnt work probably go with the JD kit.

Much better.. now runs clean everywhere. Heres what did it...

Suzuki DW needle on 3rd clip
42 pilot
165 main

This is how its supposed to run. Only rode for 15 minutes though. I will
ride it longer this weekend and give a complete report.
