• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Has anyone went with smaller sproket on rear to make 1&2 gear bigger? I skip 1 alot because its a radical bike. I use 3-4 alot on single, some say change to xcw gears, my bikes brand new though. Any thoughts? Some want slavens head? This bike has plenty power, if anything i would like to tame it. I hear fly weight or thicker head gasket squish better? Any thoughts?

My brother took the 15 off the front and is now running a 16... Hes runnning 16-50 for the same reason your talking about.... But personally I didnt see a problem with using 2 and up....

The first thing I did on my new TE300 was to replace the 1st and 2nd gear from KTM XC. BTW this is my 6th such conversion and all riders are happy with this mod... None of us is a racer and we all ride off-road,extreme stuff. 14/50 gearing.

13/50 is stock right? My 300 xcw came with 13/50 and 1st seems kinda useless so far. I may try a 14 since I have one already.

14/50 is all we use even with XCW trans... We need just enough torque to go uphill, not lots of torque to go down by digging holes in the trail.

My 2016 TE300 stock is 13/50. I hardly use 1st gear, except in extreme terrain. I'm hesitant to change gearing but, I might try a 14 in the front, just to see how it works.

my 2016 TE 300 with stock gearing will run about 85 mph and crawl as needed 2 weeks ago did the National Hare and Hound then last weekend changed the tire and finished King of the Moto
What more can you ask from a stock bike with stock gearing from slow to fast it is all in that gear box

I hit 75 at the Virginia city Grand Prix last year on my 15 300 running 13/48 and I probably wouldn't have pushed it much harder. I'm actually probably going to get a 14 up front as well and see how it does
