• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250cc 0r 360cc topend on gp175 bottom?

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hello all!
I new here so take it easy on the newbie.

Is it possible to bolt on a 250cc cylinder/head to a 175wr/gp 6 speed bottom end? I have a 1975 GP175 that needs more nuts. What about a 360cc? What carb, reed, and pipe combo would be needed. What years are compatible if any at all?

I'm currently racing this bike in AMA D37 desert races in the Sen EX class, not a vintage class. Help a Husky brother out to better finish positions. LOL

Thanks in advance

I may be able to help you out. I've got a 76 360WR motor sitting on my shop floor that needs to be gone through and it may need a left case (can't remember). And I have a 360CR pipe that has a shortened stinger otherwise its very good. I plan on selling this stuff on Ebay someday but since you're a desert guy looking for a solution now I'll take the time to ship it to you if your interested in buying it. You could recoup some of your investment in this stuff from the sale of your 175 motor and pipe. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the replies.

So no go on bigger displacement with a bigger barrel, bummer. I was hoping the stroke was the same and it would be a simple bolt on. I'm not looking to trade the 175. I'm not sure at this point taking you up on the offer of an engine. I might just start looking for another complete bike in 250 or 360cc.

Chayzed Pilot I'm with United MC. Are you going to race the Checkers vintage race at Cal City? I'm planning on doing the vintage race and my regular class on the 175 unless I can find something before that.

Here is a picture of the 175

your cases are the same part# as the 75/76 250, find a 250 crank, top-end and cyl studs- (longer). I have 175gp cases on my 250 mag.

That just opened up some possibilities for my brother. He has a bunch of stuff to do the conversion. I thought the bore of the 175 case was too small for the 250 barrel.
