• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2T vs 4T sales

Has anyone seen any sales trends data on 2T vs 4T bikes? The small euro mfgs are producing and selling 2T bikes, but are the sales numbers significant? I've heard anecdotally that KTM sells every 2T they bring to NA, and that 4T sales for many mfgs are going south, but have seen no data.

I have not really seen any data, but with direct injection coming soon (look at Ski doo) I would think based on simplicity alone the 2-stroke will be on a upswing!!! 4-stroke:( 2-stroke:cheers:

Not sure on any of this but I'd like to see the numbers also ... World-wide numbers would be best but seeing the states-only numbers would be interesting ... Bikes sales are probably still down due to the economy overall ... Now is the time to bring a lower costing bike to market...

I'm 100% sold on the Husky 2t machines ... from the 150 \ 167 to 250 \ 300 cc ... Very cool reliable machines that are fast ...

Not really sold on the DI 2t machines after what was released on the 4t machines ... It all worked out maybe even better than a CARB but look at the expense and time spent that many may not want to endure ... They actually shot themselves in the foot with some of the trivial problems that never should have left the factory ... Lets just hope these machines come in clean and without too many errors ... If nothing else in 3-4 yrs the DI will be lined out with all the kinks ironed ... It'll be fun watching this happen, if it happens ...

DI has been in Piaggio 2T's for years as well as outboards and ski doos I would believe the technology is pretty right by now.

I can see the hardware being close and the design being good but the software might be another story ... A dirt bike has alot more throttle play than these water crafts than probably run at a fixed RPM where a bike has lots more throttle play happening ...

bmw can help here greatly ... It would seem like they would like this DI stuff as its new and no bikes are really using it to date ...
