  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I know this was covered somewhat in Kelly's original post about the JD Tuners but now that
some time has passed and people have had a chance to play with the settings and get things
dialed in I'm wondering what settings you're using. I've been using the recommended settings for
a race exhaust. green-4, yellow-5, red I bumped up to 7, green/blue-3, yellow/blue-4, red/blue-5.
I'm still having that stalling issue sometimes although it's not major it does seem to occur at the
worst possible time and has caused a couple minor wipeouts on steep narrow trails where you
just don't want to be going down. I know it's nothing major and I'm sure with the correct settings
it can be cured. Looking for suggestions.

jerbear, have you performed the TPS reset on your bike? http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/ez...fi-and-tps-on-a-511-449-good-info-here.18352/

I developed a stalling issue after about 500 miles. I performed the procedure as outlined in the thread above, rode the bike for a few miles to let the computer re-learn things... and never had the issue again. I also performed the reset before installing the JD Tuner.

My current settings are JD recommended settings except for: Idle (one step leaner) and accelerator pump (two steps up). This is on a 449.

Yes, I've done the TPS reset a couple times. Does that flathead idle adjust screw on the FI need to be reset to it's original state which, if
I remember correctly, was all the way in then back out 2 & 1/2 turns ? I'll just keep playing with it. I'll start with lower the green to 3 or 3.5
and the green/blue down one. Also do another TPS reset. Thanks for the suggestions.

Any of you guys put holes in your 449 or 511 air box lid to let more air in? Seams like you could put a few in the side so it won't suck in hot air from the radiators?

I have also heard that the TC airbox may flow better, although I haven't had a chance to look close and see why. I did try running without the intake snorkel on my TXC511 for a bit but wasn't able to discern any difference beyond a dirtier air filter ....so I put the snorkel back on.

After the muffler and JD I;m sure not looking for more power. Has almost to much now.
This would be my exact comment as well. The FMF slip-on and JD tuner unleashed more than enough HP to kill me if I'm not careful. To quote my old buddy Popeye the Sailor Man... "That's all I can stands, I can't stands no more!"

I placed an order with JD Jetting Store online on the 13th November and its not arrived. How long should I have to wait?

Update....just got in from work and a card has been left by the postman saying the JD is at my local postal sorting office.....Does anyone have a setup for the TE449 that works well at sea level?

should be setup pretty well stock. Every bike is different and it will not make your bike run crappy unless set really weird. Read the instructions carefully, understand the function and play with it from there. It really is pretty simple.

I'm having a hard time getting to the black plug connector for the jd to plug into, which one is it? mine is not as accessible as the picture in the instructions shows. Any suggestions to help me find the right wire without taking apart the top of the bike to get to it.

It is the one sticking out the back of the throttle body....hard to reach. I was able to release the latch with a long thin flatblade screwdriver; others have used needlenose pliers.
