  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi i am new to the forum so thanks for any help in advance, i have just got a 2011 te 449 i went out today on it and it seems to run fine in the first 3 gears but in gear 4 is seems to splutter and miss fire ,the bike is fitted with a full aprorovic ti exhaust ,and i have put a new spark plug, new oil and filter ,and cleaned air filter, the guy i got it from had not used it for a long time,so i changed the fuel, any ideas thanks

Check the ground wire that comes off of the spark plug area and goes to the left side of the engine. It often breaks inside the insulation.

If it has sat still for a while, there may be contaminants in the fuel & it may have a blockage of the fuel filter. It might explain why it runs ok in the lower gears (not so much fuel needed to pull through those gears)
It is a gauze bag on the fuel pump in the second tank. If it is all brown/black on inspection, that may be it.

Unfortunately it isn't available as a Husky part that i know of (Whole pump is no.13 in the pic)

Contact Zip-ty racing here on the CH forum, he is looking at doing a stainless filter I believe.

hi dangermouse thanks for the reply i will have a look at the pump asp thanks .it sounds like you sey to me need more fuel in hi gears.

Not so much more fuel needed, just it takes longer at wide open throttle to pull through the higher gears. So it might starve for fuel before the throttle is closed & the system gets to recover.
Could be something else, but that's a fairly typical fuel filter situation on most vehicles...

Fuel restriction rather than sludgey ?
I'd empty it, do a service and clean and throw a new plug in it just to be safe.

bit of a update on the bike i checked the earth wire and it was fine, so i filled up with fresh fuel.with a splash of injector cleaner and went for a run the bike is now running better but its still spluttering a bit but its much better will have a look at the pump at the weekend thanks for all the help
