  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I made a my XRR rally bike about 8 years ago and really enjoyed the build and the bike.. that was the one bike I wish I never sold.. but .. Life goes on

I just traded a ktm 640 adv for a low hour 2011 TXC 449 and thought I'd Rally it out.. love the looks and maybe I'll do the baja rally at the end of the year..

Here is the mock up I've started.. still a lot of cutting and fitting to make the fairing work on the TXC. but that's kinda the fun.. right??

I think it will be a fun build.. it's not going to be total "DAKAR" rally build but a fun Dual Sport Dakar lite build.

Going with ims, though I'm thinking of keeping stock and carting a 4 or 6 liter msr dromedary fuel bag in my back back to get 120 miles

This was just the mock up for the 449.. I just got finished with the new XR650R rally fairing build.. I'll have the husky unit done in a month or so..

I'm working on the frame connection for the nav tower..

I've partnered up with perfect fairings. I make the prototypes and He'll make the production molds and unit runs.. he provides me with the nav towers and front headlight masks and I make the side connections to the bike.
 
Ok got the zip ty over flow tank and IMS tank installed. I have most of the wiring harness done. everything works but I'm going to clean it up more when I get the fairing on. waiting on some parts to start the rally fairing install. should have everything here by the weekend.. but I think I'm riding first..LOL

got the new fairing from Perfect-fairings today. test fitting as it's for a KTM exc.. Need to do some minor trimming and a little fiberglass work to make it fit correctly.
I'll work on it this week. need to make frame to subframe mount. taking a look at some o
