• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC 4CS Fork Recall Advice

Its just southern jargon that means we (might) know the truth or least some clarification, now on a specific topic ...

For a company to admit to a design so bad it must be recalled, it is a big big $ deal (not to mention the bad PUB) ... Someones' career might have just went parallel instead of vertical. That means no more pay-raises \ job title changes and best to watch for that door that just might hit you on the way out.

Thanks Norm ...

Here is the meat of what this all about.

Due to a supplier production fault, it is now necessary to check the torque setting of a nut between the fork’s piston rod and screw cap, within the 4CS fork chamber. This check can be carried out by authorised KTM and Husqvarna dealers only. It takes about 25 minutes and is completely free of charge.

The fault generally occurs in the first few operating hours and is identified by a knocking sound from within the fork. In addition to this, the damping in the affected strut decreases.

Here's another, maybe, more accurate angle on the bike building side ... Who is the supplier? And how did this get out of the house? These are internal questions and some one will answer these, internally. (The supplier of course has a say here also, again internally)

If the fix only takes about 25 minutes, that likely means they are just checking the torque as noted. The "supplier" is likely their own company - white power. Hans had a hangover and let a few slip by.
FWIW, I know a lot of people (incuding myself) were down on the 4cs forks, but mine ('14 TE250) seem to be getting much better as time and dialing-in goes on, to the point where I consider them to be very good right now for rough enduro-type single track trails.

Its a manufacturing fault.
It happens to all at some stage, good that they have released the info for the bikes to be checked.

I didn't post the details as a bash, only to make people aware of the issue & get it checked.
Often owners aren't able to be contacted if a bike/car changes hands & the new owners miss out.

I was appreciative of the post, my friend texted me something about a recall but then all I saw was it was the torque setting and only affected the UK bikes I wasn't worried. Plus when I change my fork springs I would have seen if there was anything wrong.

Super easy check/ fix
