• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

With the lack of classifieds for vintage now I'll happily use the standard vintage forum. Anyone in the Uk got a 500 or 430 pre '87 LC engine in any condition for a project? I can pay a good price and promise a good home. Not advertising a sale so I figure this thread is ok, I'll be at the Telford show to pick up if necessary?

Not another flamin project??? is it going in the motard frame? i want to do a 82 -3 a/c 125..got my eye on a box of bits locally. Thinking monster port job and low gearing with cr suspenders. might get Mr Exhaust to make a sweet down pipe for it ala RM / TM suzuki

It would be for my GSXR400. I got a KTM690 for it at the moment but I'm tempted by a 2 stroke and a Husky so I could build it on this forum. I really enjoyed the last one and I've dipped a toe in a few other forums and quite frankly they suck !

face it, a 500 road monster would be unreal. imagine the fancy down pipe you can build for it and the 48mm carb on methanol...
What a weapon. Port the crap out of it and hang on!

I would build a real torquey pipe and try to get a real broad powerband. Not sure I'll find a motor though and not sure about the methanol either ! Nothing like the smell of castrol R and methanol though !

Just a thought for you to consider,
A 430 runs the same size piston so the longer 500 crank & barrell swap would make it a 500 (would also need 500 head bolts) also I'm sure I've read on here some where that someone put a 500 crank/barrell/piston assembly into 250 cases not sure how easy that was, but this is my understanding of the 3 bigger motors,
400 has a smaller piston but has the same crank as the 430,
430 has a shorter crank but has the same piston as the 500.
So with those options you could consider using a 250/400/430 motor as a replacement to convert to a 500.
Hope this helps,
Speedy.

Hadn't thought about that. I seem to remember someone here machining out the crankcase on a 250. I missed a 250 A/C engine over christmas by sleeping off a hangover in the afternoon and missing the end. It went for £180 ! Eeejit!

With your skills Joe, why not think out of the box .... how about the marriage of two 500 LC's. I know it's been done before, but what a progect to build on here ! No need for porting on a 1000cc twin :applause:

Now I've sown a seed ...... I'll get me coat.

That would be a couple of years in the making I think. What I could do is just get another credit card and get a brand new Zabel 700 twin and the spend those two years in my usual bed in the trauma ward...

Move to the Northern Territory Joe and see how fast it can go....no speed limits! (just have to dodge the odd hopper or emu that might wander onto the road unannounced like....

Be happier on the great ocean road...if it wasn't so hot you could fry an Echidna egg while it's still in the Echidna ! Hows the bikes running or is it too hot to swing a kickstart?

300 is in a million bits, time for a new top end, suspension upgrade and a new chain and sprockets.

far too hot to do anything but drink and chew the forum chat! be down the GOR nxt weekend, my no 1 daughter's mate is up for a suprise 25th so a few of us are going to have a nice beach party at ocean grove.

will be fun.
Have a plan to fit the 38 tooth rear to the kTM and do a run down the GOR later this year when the holiday mob run out of $ and go home!

With the new go pro it should be a good aural / visual as long as i can actually catch and pass some poor bastard who is not in any kind of hurry:eek: wish you were here!
Only 8 weeks til the first vinduro. Never have to wait long in Aus for something to happen!! (may not be what you wish for but guaranteed, it will happen!)

Just looked at your link...that can happen anywhere in aus, dont get a phobia about the NT!!

I'm sure there are commission blocks in London full of victims of that prank!!

almost as good as the old "follow me, I'll show you the best line" prank:D

Living in australia is simply a day to day of "Can I handle that???" christ knows what "that  " is but it will make life interesting.. beats sniffing Liz Hurleys Knickers im sure:lol: Should ask Warne i guess

Hurry up and convince the missus to get on a boat in Indonesia, quickest and most lucrative way to enter the country!

we will probably pay for your crook shoulder!!

Just to get you in the frame, its 28 degrees (Celsius you clown) the cicadas have just knocked off and the tree frogs have just clocked on.. there are 10 hoppers (Kangaroos) on the lawn and I've just had 4 Stella 500 ml cans with my Father who has promptly driven home (Praise the lord) He is 89 and doesn't care too much about the drink driving laws, he has been drink driving since 1930ish so he is pretty good at it now!)
Life is good, just need to order a few parts for the Kato, have a play with the jetting on the 400 and get the shox resealed and 2013 is ready to go. (just a little matter of building a new house:eek: (6 bay shed as compensation) and flog this one! nothing much happening at all... Amazzing how f*king hard it is 2 type with 4 "Stellas" and 3 "fat Yaks" on board:busted: go make a snow man!!

Fek the snowman, it is snowing though. I'm just passing the time looking for badly listed engines on Ebay until, and its close, time for a Fullers Honeydew and get the rib of beef in for a late lunch featuring a small lake of red wine followed by the rest of the drinks cabinet and hoping I can't get to work in the morning. No fat yaks, just Horace the fat cat, when the beefs all used up and we're still snowed in.................... I think cat tastes a bit like rabbit

Classic, Enjoy. we had two pet lambs last year, they are now in the freezer awaiting a suitable day for roasting! (a day when its less than 35 degrees) there will be spuds!!
