    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi guys..
im in the process of building the ultimate all rounder.. we cant get the txc over here or rarely so i ve got the TE (310) for the electric start over the TC..
i have had the suspension re valved to get rid of the harshness feel i was having.. also on big hits it felt a little wallowy...

any way the bike is awesome now in woods & enduro riding.. really love it.. the suspensions is brill.
so i would say that its primarily set up for this.. and compromised slightly on big hits from jumps at the mx practice track.. although wth the revalve its acceptable on the jumps..

from what I understand changing the the front fork springs is relatively easy.. i want to try some stiffer ones to see how much it compromises the plush feeling i have... and just because it seems like fun.. and to see if and how the improves or not the feel of the bike on landings from jumps..

therefore i wish to understand which direction husky went with specifying the spring loads for different breeds only on the 50mm shivers so i guess this will be mostly 08-09 bikes??

so chip in anyone that can help out there..
i understand that weight of bike and factory valving will make a difference so im just going to have to add the sod it and try it factor when i order some different springs.

My 08 TXC250 has these forks (stock) and yep, changing springs is easy ... They also have some clips that can be slide easily to change the preload ... You do not even have to drain the oil to change the clips in most cases ... I'm not sure, but the TE models might be different from the TXC ... These are the dual chamber models ... so far so good on them :) .... and currently, I'm a fan of the 2 chamber system :)

I was lucky enough to get most of the harshness out of mine with the badder bleeding and new oil ... Currently 5wt is in the inner chambers as it is a trail \ street bike now .. My TXC forks will bottom after ~35-40' foot table top landings ...ESP if you hit on level ground and not the downward slope on a landing pad :) but feel ok on small tracks ...

From what I have read, adjusting the oil level in the outer chambers is about all you can do to stop it from bottoming out on jumps when it is valved for the trails ... And you can screw up the other strokes of the fork f you just keep adding oil here ...

I have heavier oil in my outer chambers now (10wt) and this served to slow the forking down but did not change much on bottoming if any ... I hope to do some oil blending n the future for the forks to get some custom feeling action from them ...

Ray thats a great reply / explanation... do you know what the standard springs are? or were in you bike from the factory..

Mine are stock I'm sure and I got this from the parts manual ... Spring (K=4,8 N/mm)

Not sure what it means ;0)

Here is a thread where the spring-rates \ pre-load are explained to some degree...It s sort of cool because it gives a method to set the pre-load that determines if your current spring rate is correct :0 )

I just have plenty of time \ not too many resources so I am trying alot of different things ... The track racing is all new to me but it has helped my riding skills (ESP jumping) and has gotten me to try new suspension settings :banana:
 
Keep in mind the TE310 uses a different fork than the 09 TXC and TC 250s

The 310 is the open chamber fork, the TXC & TC use the twin chamber. The springs are different part #'s for the respective forks. I doubt they are interchangeable, but I'm not a Marzocchi expert.

Also, I believe the open chamber forks do not have the sag/preload clips like the twin chambers do.....

Both forks a quite a bit different from each other and use different setup methods
