• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

610 piston rings search

Anybody got some? I've got some requests out there with a dealer or two saying they have 'em on back order but I just thought I'd put a shout out to all those 610 owners/dealers that might have a set put back somewhere. I really got to get this bike back together before I forget how it came apart.

Hall's would be my first choice to call. The dealer that I normally deal with over the phone is Ridersville Cycle in Berkley Springs, W.Va. They are a mom & pop shop that sells a lot of Huskys. You might try them too. They have visibility to an items availability or backorder with thier suppliers.

If you have the dimensions I would also check with Total Seal. They have a pretty slick arrangement might have some that would fit this application. Or you might be able to make a minor modification to the piston to make them work.

Yeah I thought about non-oem rings and even having some made but I'm just a little nervous about mixing stock and aftermarket parts together in such a critical area.

Lookie what I got from the nice man in the Fedex truck today. :applause:

It all started as a cam chain swap and turned into a "let's freshen up the top end" job, cuz it was cold outside, I was bored and just kept going deeper. :D At 10K miles everything in the motor was amazingly clean and well within spec so I just did a few things to ensure the next 10K miles would be worry free.

New cam chain
New exhaust valves (because they're two-part and want to be sure they stay as one)
All 4 valve seats properly ground (this was the only room for improvement I could find, ports are already very efficient and smooth)
New piston rings plus all the top end gaskets and o-rings
Ohlins suspension serviced (forks and shock)
Lacing new Excel hoops to the OEM hubs (because the OEM SM rims are shit)
Bead-blasting the headers (might get them ceramic coated)

Looks like you're doing a great job.
I have heard something about cam follower/rocker wear. That stuff was OK?
