• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

630 recall

Husqvarna

I got a recall on my SM630 from my local dealer. The recall was about changing the releasing rod for the clutch basket. Anyone else that have this recall?
The new rod, was a litle thinner than the original one. My thoughts were that the old rod was too tight so it could get stuck in the motor and cause the clutch to hang up. It was a 10 minute job to change it.

Had that shortly before I went in for my first 1000km service check. There was a noise coming out of the gearbox that I´d noticed. That was August last year! Not had a thing throughout the winter months.

@ Jtemple : I am located in Norway. The dealer had sold 2 SM630's and both had a recall about this part.
It seems that this recall is regarding a selection of bikes by chassisnumber. I think that it was printed in the letter that came with the part wich bikes that needed this modification.
However it may be wise to check with your dealer if this is for your bike too.

@ organ donor : I did not have a noise in the gearbox. I only stopped by the dealer for a cup of coffee and some chat, when he told me he just got the release rod for my bike in the post from the Norwegian importer. I also had to change it my self in their workshop because they were overloaded of work :)

Yesterday, I received a new clutch push rod from Hall's, free of charge. I asked if it was an official recall, and here was their reply:

"It is what they call a bike update service bulletin. The US was just getting ready to release the bulletin to dealers when I started asking questions."

Rod replaced. The end is slightly different, and the rod is thinner, you say? I couldn't tell if it was thinner or not. I wonder if constant use on the old end design caused the rod to mushroom out slightly and hang up. I could see that happening. The tolerance in there is pretty tight.

Technically, there is no such animal as a 2010 630. The first run of them was officially the 2011 model, even last year. I bought mine in May 2010 and it's a 2011 model.
