• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'77 CR250 nuts, bolts and other questions about original finish

I would appreciate any info or direction on how to figure out a few items:

1. Correct nylock nuts. I can determine from the parts diagram what were flanged and non-flanged but what were the correct nylock color(s)? I see both blue and red out there on the interweb.

2. Was the brake pedal and brake pedal rod painted silver, or were those plated parts?

3. Engine brackets - painted or plated?

4. Footpegs - painted or plated?

5. front exhaust bracket clamp (the one that clamps to down tube of frame) - plated or painted?

5. Cables - were they grey or black?

6. Frame - were they powdercoating in '77 or was it regular paint?

7. Number plate mounting brackets - plated or painted?

This may, or may not help, but ..... I am stripping a 78 390WR to build into my auto racer. Going by my other 390WR as well ....

2. Was the brake pedal and brake pedal rod painted silver, or were those plated parts? Painted

3. Engine brackets - painted or plated? I think the originals were clear anodized.

4. Footpegs - painted or plated? Both of mine were painted.

5. front exhaust bracket clamp (the one that clamps to down tube of frame) - plated or painted? Painted

5. Cables - were they grey or black? Not sure on that one, as mine have been replaced over the years with black ones.

6. Frame - were they powdercoating in '77 or was it regular paint? Paint. Whatever is was is very good as my Nitromors paint stripper had little or no effect.

7. Number plate mounting brackets - plated or painted? Painted.
Husky never changed much between 77 and 78, so hopefully this is still applicable to yours. It still amazes me with the quality of the paint finish. There never seems much of it, but it lasts so well.
Claude (Visiteur1948) will probably be able to add to this.

Can anyone else chime in on brake pedal rod (have seen NOS that were plated not painted) or cables (fiche shows those old style ones that have the oilers were they grey or black?)
