• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Can someone help please, I'm rubbish at electrics. I got no spark, had one before rebuild.
Everything appears to be earthed ok.
Done motoplat checks as follows
HT lead to earth = 10k ohms
Blue to black = 22 ohms
Blue to earth is 324 ohms, should be 180 max, is this the problem?
The other thing I think is odd but might not be is that when you spin the flywheel with a meter on blue to earth or black to earth, both wires go to earth intermittently??
And while we are at it, whats the smallest 3rd spade connector on the coil for?

are the shox on? dont ask me why but minewouldnt fire up untill ihad theshox bolted on. wierd all right. figured it relatedto thekicking speed, on the bike stand, i couldnt get a good slash at the kik start. once it was on its wheels it fired first kick...? beats me. have you made an appropriate sacrifice to the motoplat gods? nothing less than the neighbors first born will do.

Was thinking, might have to adjust kickstart, getting two then one turn. Might try dropping off stand and having a good run up at it. Shox are on, looking at Nirvana unplugged with wife asleep at the moment for inspiration...

...and the neighbors first born has to be black haired and his/hers nails have to be shortened before sacrificing!!!

Diagnosing electrical problems is pain, don't over look the simple stupid stuff. You already eliminated the kill switch, & check the coil & frame to motor ground if i remember right. Put a different plug in, i've had 2 brand new plugs! both crap out with in short amount of time. My 390's
plug lasted about 15 minutes then gave up the ghost, & my car had a misfire after a week both plugs stopped sparking. If that don't help
check the harness for cracks or wire shorts.

I would check the grounds and conections again. I've never seen three terminals on a red motoplat coil before. The larget terminal goes to the blue wire and to the kill switch. The smaller terminal goes to the black wire.

The proper values for blue to earth is 300 - 345 ohms, blue to black 17 - 20 ohms.

And tonight I got a spark. No real reason, its just decided to have pity on me I guess ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************!

When I was a lot younger I had a series of Bul tacko's and Montessa's , they all had Motoplat ignitions and I learn't to hate Motoplat almost as much as Lucas electrics. Lord Lucas " Lord of Darkness "
