• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

82 430cr Newbie Questions

Lucas22

Husqvarna
C Class
Hey y’all , been restoring this 82 430CR for a minute now . I’m new to huskies so I’ve got a couple stupid questions.

1. What oil should I put in the case and how much ?
2. What ratio premix do you recommend ?
3. Is the shift pattern 1 down 5 up ?

Thanks in advance :)

I run 40 to 1 in everything of mine. Use a quality oil but it will probably smoke/ splooge if you run top shelf oil

I put atf in the gearbox . Maybe use actual oil if you're going desert racing .probably still has alloy clutch plates .
Will make the oil look gray / black / old in 1 rude
They take about 1400ml . The level is to the bottom of the full hole meets the vertical piece of the case .

These bikes are notorious for eating the kickstart gear off the back of the clutch basket and the bearings in the kickstart gear train . Inspect / replace often

They will pretty much never select nuetral if you stop rolling with the clutch in. Make it a habit of finding nuetral while you're rolling up to the start line etc

Not to start a pissing match but I strongly disagree with using atf trans fluid in the gear box. I have seen many transmissions that were run using atf and almost always the 3rd gear set is so very badly pitted and destroyed. I recommend running something like Torco MTF-L 75W Motorcycle Transmission fluid.

40:1 fuel mix is good.

Yes shifting is 1 down 5 up.
