• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

82.5 cr500 has a decompressor port in barrel

has anyone seen a barrel with a decompressor port like this ? i assumed it was standard but looking into it further i think its not . its always just had a capped off spark plug in it and i could kick start the bike on most occasions but the piston was fairly tired so now i'm rebuilding it im going to fit a victa auto decompressor to it

oh maybe i should have clarified . i was more asking has anyone seen a STOCK barrel with the decomp port in it ? on a cr500 .
i considered the small button decompressors too but ive heard on a big enough bike getting kicked hard enough they close before it actually fires . they prolly work quite well if it is only a small hole drilled into the chamber . with the victa decompressor i can change the springs in it untill it works as it should .

those small blue ones are also used in big inch harley motors. they put them right in the head.

yeah i see they have full stainless versions of the lil blue ones for harleys . might try that too . rather have one of them than the big diaphram one which is actually quite ugly and naturally open

I used one of these in the head of my 1981 430 CR and it works great!

You can see it in the vintage restoration section under 1981 430 CR resto-mod.

The pictures of your cylinder dont look like it was stock. I would assume if Husky did that it would have a cast void in the fins with a boss for the valve instead of it clearly being machined away. Looks like user modification to me, but a good one nonetheless. On my Maico's and KTMs that have them, the hole is not the size of the valve like yours, they have a tiny hole in the sleeve like the one in visiteur1948's picture.
