    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

87-88 250WR vs 240WR

Hi guys, I have searched but can't find much detail, can anyone tell me the differences between a 250wr and 240wr engines in 1987-88?
I am aware that they are an unusual motor in terms of bore and stroke, different to any other Husky, but are parts like top end and crank interchangeable between the two?

I have both a 86 Wr240 and an 87 Wr250 [ pre exhaust power valve ] in my shed and have had both motors apart.
The 87/250 has a longer stroke and a smaller bore than the 240 so the crank and barrel [ 3mm taller than the 240] should NOT be interchangeable.
The 250 revs very well for a longer stroke.

cant really compare 86 and 87 as the 85-86 250 bikes have shorter stroke, and the 87-88 250 bikes have longer stroke..the respective 240 bikes of those years would have the same strokes as their 250 "brothers".. the 240 size would be just a bore change, and of course an 86 240 would be different than an 87 240 for this reason..kind of like the difference between a 400 and 430.
being as how all the primary kick swede 250/400/430 bikes have the same rod, i also doubt husky would make different crank cheeks just for the 240..
the only swede to get a powervalve was the 87/88 cr250..no xc or wr had them
 
Yes, I'm only referring to the 87-88 motors, I am led to believe that they are unique to that model. No power valves just plain porting..............
Thanks for the info on the bore size being the only difference between the two, it may make it easier a little down the track when looking for parts.
Can anyone tell me if 240 pistons etc are easier to source than 250 pistons? Does anyone make a piston for either? I have seen the Wossner pistons for 87-92 but also understand that these do not fit the Swedish engines, only the Cagiva engines.
 
the only 250 pistons i know of are from uk andy...i dont think ive ever seen the 240 ones..he has said the powervalve ones will work in the non powervalve engines.
and you are correct, the wossner ad is misleading..its too bad, i would love to get a wossner for mine.
