  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

87 WR 250 Wire Question

I'm working on a 87 WR 250 and have a question on the wires. I have a white and green comming from the stator. Could someone tell me what these wires are for.

Thanks
Guy

. white wire? is it sem/amal sweden on flywheel or motoplat. my 84 wr is sem and i think all wr used the sem aswell as the xc, but not cr. so your white wire confuses me. check ohms. is it maybe faded yellow as there was two yellow wires for lights? the green should be the trigger for cdi coil.

stator to cdi
yellow x 2 = lights one to rectifier, and on my wr the other yellow isnt used
blue = lights, not used on my wr, i think for 3 phase power regulating with yellows
red = to cdi red ac power input >20vac ? and 17kohm if i recall
green = to cdi green trigger signal >5vac ? and about 500 ohm if i recall, and also
it HAS to be +5 than -5 NOT neg than pos, - than + wont trigger
black = to cdi black, grounding cdi back to the stator internal ground, but you could add a ground
if you like it wont hurt
orange = the kill wire, it connects to kill switch and when pushed it sends to ground, cutting the AC input
to cdi, this way no overload to cdi internal can happen

ive been working on cdi lately and i dont recall any white wire from stator , but up in the wire harness theres a white maybe with a stripe, and it has to do with lights , tail or brake, maybe brake light switch, something like that i think
