• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ahhh... It is good to be back!

Had a couple rides to get back into the swing of things, this was from the 3rd real ride back. Spent most of the time watching Kelly work on his ATK, but it was still a good time. :D

I have no idea what it is about these goofy dirt bikes that is so fun but something about them digs in deep!

Here is some fresh cut single track for your enjoyment...

Later,

 I was just about ready to call you a wuss for riding the first minute on the dirtbike equivalent of superhighway! Thankfully, I kept watching past 1:00 before posting! :D

How did Ben like the flywheel weight?

He really liked it, we have not tried it in slick nasty conditions yet though. Let me or him know when you want it back, I think he wanted to keep it on until after Idaho city. He may want to buy one, not sure yet.

My return to riding was put on pause after today. I tweaked my knee pretty bad, doing something really dumb. A slow 1st gear wheelie that went over too far, jumped off to walk behind the bike and just crumpled into a ball. Time for more strength training on the knee. Now walking with a cane, I already modified it with a renthal grip. :D I have good flexibility, no swelling, and it only hurts when I walk... Crappy way to end a good 25 mile ride, the bike landed literally 10 feet from the trailer. Yeah I am that dumb. :banghead:

Hopefully just a minor set back.

Sorry about the knee. Have Ben just keep it until after Idaho City.

Was great riding with you and wondered what the text of the cane was about. CRAP!!! Also wondered why you did not join us yesterday. Shane showed up with no hand guards or rear fender all mad max rat bike looking. managed to snap his clutch master in half and end his day early. Idaho is going to be real LONG for him not riding for half a year!!! I might have to go and grab a free entry :D Shane, get that bike prepped.

Dang Jake I think I've typed this before but.... Heal up quick . Krieg I was thinking the same thing when I first started watching the video. Then ...it got machete tight and I was thinking boy the mx tracks are nice. Cool video Jake.

What's the yellow bike at the end of the video?

That is a 94/95 RMX250, my friend Larry rides it, he is a former top 10 national flat tracker that still hauls some serious butt. He is a hoot to ride with and really loves the older bikes for off road.

Also wondered why you did not join us yesterday.

I knew I was not ready for Diamond Mill... I also was not ready for my own stupidity...
