    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

alignment of kick lever 83 WR430?

This is not a kick lever instal questions, Im familiar with how to install. However, my pig tail large splined lever does not line up. Its either too much clockwise (does not fit in the plastic cradle) or too far counterclockwise (have to over cock the spring, and when kick lever returns, its hits case instead of stopping via the pawl and spring retainer inside the case).

Its not the plate/spring retainer thing inside the case, I have several including an unmolested one and same problem.

So I wanted to check a few things. Maybe Im wrong and its ok for the lever to come back and hit the case? If not, could I have the wrong lever? Every picture I could find of the 83 WR430 has the pigtail lever. Were there perhaps multiple pig tail levers? Or should it have a straight kick lever like I have seen on some of the later 1980's bikes?
 
Here’ a picture of my 81 cr430 kicker . There is also a rubber block between the kicker and cases . Also took a few other pics incase you want to see how it sits off the holder . Wasn’t sure if you were saying that the pawl isn’t releasing when you kicker returns but hope it does release as that can and will get expensive . Pawl is releasing, I was thinking the rubber block should not be what stops the kicker on the return, but maybe it is the rubber block that actually stops it. Does your kicker slam back into the rubber block or kind of stop before it gets there?
 
Out of those 2 options I would have to say it slams back onto the rubber stop but since the pawl should have release by then it should hit the stop with no more force than that of the kickstart return spring . Are you missing the rubber stop on yours ?
