  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

aluminum sleeve on right side of crank 05 tc 450?

Here is my question Husky Gurus. There is an aluminum sleeve on the right side of the crank on my tc 450. The sleeve slides in over the crank where all the e start components used to be. I got it from an 06 tc 450 that was a kick start only bike. The primary gear bottoms on the crank so there is no need for a spacer. It looks like the sleev covers the verticle holes in the crank that previously fed oil to the needle bearing that was there. Is that sleev only there to keep oil pressure? any help would be appreciated.:excuseme:

I can look at the 05 Tc450 crank I have in the morning,Im not sure what your question is exactly? Are you installing elec start parts or just the primary gear from a 2006?billf

I took all the e start parts off the bike because it starts so easy. When I did this i noticed that you could remove the "one way clutch" parts off the primary gear but the outer shell was pressed onto the gear. It weighs 14.10 ounces. I took it to a machine shop and had the bell ground off the gear and now it weighs 5 ounces. The bike now revs faster, starts easier, and has a lot less engine braking. The gear bottoms on the crank so it appears that the aluminum sleeve off the 06 which I was told was necesary just covers the verticle hole in the crank previously used to get oil to the e start parts. I assume this was just to maintain oil pressure. Just wanted someone to confirm.
