  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Another 87 430 Fork Swap

FirstEliminator

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hey guys,

A friend had given me a set of White Power forks with the red adjusters. They have stickers on them that say Husqvarna Multi-Adjuster by WP. I thought they were early 90's. But, I am not sure.

Are these good / bad / indifferent?

If this fork set is worthy of swapping in, I was thinking of sending the forks and the rear shock to WER.

Without taking things apart to see how it will fit on the 87 430. Can I expect my front axle and wheel to work? Stem bearing issues?

I have a 96 ktm 300 with the same red adjusters on them. So I would saythey look identical to what wp used in mid 90's. If I had them I would most definitely put them on my 86 430xc.

That fork is from 1991 I have a 250 Husqvarna WXE that has it. I also have two 430 CRs that have the WP4054 on it without the red adjusters. It is really nice to have the adjusters. The problem is going to be the axel. It was changed in 91 they went with the excel rim.

Hey guys,
I spoke with WER today about these forks. Drew mentioned there are two different forks, a 41mm and a 43mm. He said the 41mm probably wouldn't be as good to use. He is confident in the 43mm. I measured and this set I have measure out to 40.3mm. I suppose that is the 41mm. He also mentioned if i don't have the 43mm that I might want to look for a set of Showa, as they have some good settings for them.
A friend has a set of 43mm WP and I also have a set of Showa that are pretty corroded on the ouside. Not sure which I will finally use. All in all I will probably not be using the set of WP that I have pictured.
