• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anybody have a 6d helmet?

Freekman

Husqvarna
AA Class
I was just checking out the ATR 1 today. It is a little out of my range but it seems very cool/safe. I haven't been able to find any real reviews of it yet though. All just sales rep break downs. You guys have any thoughts or opinions?

Motocross action gave it their highest rating in a recent issue. Among their top 3 helmets ever tested I believe. The 6d will be at the top of my list when I am ready to buy a new helmet. The possibility of preventing another concussion is worth the extra $$$ for me.

Cool do you know what the next helmets in line were. I might have to drop the 750 but 450-500 is really more my speed right now

was it vx-pro and vfx-w

I believe one of the others was an Arai. not sure on the other. I'll try to find the issue tonight when I get home.

I'm not sure if you need one immediately right now but most of the helmets will go on sale around September/October. Maybe you'd rather wait? I still have yet to even see one in person though

I say that I can wait now as I sit in AC, but riding around in 95 degree/100% humidity my shoei qwest at sub 90mph speeds is like sticking my head in a pot of boiling water.

I just checked and the mxa article didn't say what the other 2 were. I'd be willing to bet that one was an arai though.

yeah it was the ones I said. I found a review of the shoei and that the only other helmet to get a perfect score was the arai. and now the 6d

Dirt Rider has a review of the 6D. Crash tested, no less. The reviewer gave it 98 points out of 100. A picture is included in the write-up showing the foam cracked from the rider's get off from getting thrown off the bike in 3rd gear going at a good clip, he claims. The reviewer also mentions that, after having had concussions before, that the crash he had with the 6D did not create the same kind of symptoms he experienced in other get-offs and crashes. I believe, from what I've read, the helmet is generally a little bit bigger than helmets of the same size (i.e. an "L" 6D dimensionally on the outside would be similar to an "XL" on another brand).I haven't seen anything yet saying how it mates up to a Leatt or other neck protector, but I suppose not seeing anything is the same as there being no issue to say anything about. The only issue appears to be price, but that is a personal matter for a buyer to consider.

The Dirt Rider issue is the August 2013 copy, on pp 78-80.
