  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anybody using one of these?

Yes ... in my 644 CCM. It´s a lot neater than the Husky setup in my 630. Have often wondered if the Husky couldn´t be converted.

I used one in my crf450r for a while, I will never do it again. I allways felt like it didn't seal right and you need to use there grease as they are two part . The last ride I used it there was a definit breech in the sealing.

K&N filters have the reputation of not filtering very well. I have read some tests that support that.
I wouldn't use one on an off road bike.

I am seriously considering dumping the air box on my 511 and going with a different setup....

My Yamaha ttr (sold to a mate) had a k&n from day one, the engine has 10, 000 km of off road riding in dusty conditions and the motor is still great. Never any evidence of dirt in the motor or oil. I also run one in my 690 and one of my old cars.

If you are looking for airflow most of the good brand foam filters have really good flow rates anyway and are much easier to clean so that's what I run in my husky.

I like the K&N spray cleaner and the way you just hose it clean, dry with a fan and re-oil with a spray bottle :D , clamp and throw the pre-charger on your good to go ! I'm referring to the K&N pods of coarse

Have used them in the past and wish they had one that fit the 630, especially for the super moto version.

They´ve got a `HELP´ button on their website and say that they are prepared to look into conversion setups. But I wrote and got no reply.

I used to have an F-350 diesel and guys that ran K&N filters were destroying their turbos from dust ingestion. I suppose given the poor filtering and no apparent advantage of a reusable cotton gauze filter over a reusable foam filter there is no reason to pay that much for an air filter.
