  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone having tranny problems of any kind?

Specifically shifting from 3rd down to 2nd?? TE to SMR 2008 - 2010 shifts through all gears just fine up and down till you get from 3 to 2. Tryed using the clutch and not using it. Basically goes from 3rd to neutral. Also using Motorex top speed 4 (10-40) oil Under 600 miles on the bike.

Thinking maybe the syncro is in backwords or is :censored:

It's a constant mesh trans, I don't think that there are any syncros. I know that doesn't help much. It seemed to me that someone had a problem with a slightly tweaked shifter fork that had the same symptoms.

Ewwww how does a shifter fork get bent? Sounds like some rough riding and after quite a bit of time? Like I said this thing has under 600 miles on it. Thanks for the input. We would like to hear something more appealing in the realm of change the oil ;)

on the ama racing supermoto machines it was not uncommon to install new shift drums in very short order. just for info

Ive said it in many other post ,try replaceing the shift drum plate and at the same time clean the pawls and drum pawl pins and springs it has fixed every single shifting problem we have had.BILLF

This guy says he has low miles on the bike. Is this an easy fix, easy to see if its the culperate? Gathering more information he sasy it shifts fine with throttle from 6 to 1. If the throttle is off it doesnt like down shifting period. All the clutch hydros and gears seem to mesh well. Its the down shifting.

Ok so last night I did a ton of searching. I was only able to locate a shift barrel? No plate or pawls. Does anyone have any pics of these? Also a location of where exactly and whats involved to fix them, case split?

Preese :)

My 310 has a problem shifting to neutral when the motor is at temp. When the motor is cold it's fine but once up to temp and the bike is stationary the pressure required to release 1st up or 2nd down makes it impossible to get neutral. the rest of the shifts are fine and if the bike is moving its fine. any ideas as to the culprit.?????? Oil changed within every 10 engine hrs with high quality 4t oil.

No case split, it is behind the clutch however, so you do have to remove the side cover and clutch.

Paul your question is a good one. However may be suited better in a new post so its gets the correct response for your specific issue. What I can tell you though is for some reason not being able to find neutral when up to temp is "a dual sport thing" I have heard for years.

Good luck man.

Thanks for the info buddy:thumbsup:
If you have any pictures of what these parts look like specifically that'd be grand.

Hi Spleno1 thanks for your reply. What do you mean by duel sport? as my bike is is never ridden on the blacktop.

ah, I'll have to check into that.

50 miles from the truck, heading back from an excelent day of riding and "bang" my trany locks up. The output shaft is compleatly seezed up!? Had to remove the drive chain to roll the bike. Stashed the bike in the bush as it was getting late and dark. Got a double out of the bush. Whent back the next day with my quad and towed it back to the truck. I still haven't looked at it. I have the knowledge and tools to take it apart but don't have the special tools that I might need. Could this be an easy fix or do you guys think I may need to split the cases? Should I pull the motor and send it to a husky shop for repair? I love my husky but maybe it's time for a new one.The bike starts and the motor sounds as good as ever. Clutch works but it seems the input shaft is also locked up. Any ideas about what may have happened whould be helpfull. I'm going to move this to a new post as I don't want to hijack this one. Thanks,
BIG
