• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anza Enduro Video (best H Cam for all the 499/511 riders)

Beau made this video of the AMA D37 VCMC Anza Qualifier Enduro a local SoCal district event, it has snippets of all of us doing our twisty western manzanita enduro thing. The conditions were perfect with rain from the previous week, it was a little hot at times but overall a perfect day for a tight trail ride.
The bonus for the 449/511 riders is the long view High Def H cam from Nick Burson on his 511. Up until a short time ago he was the fastest racer in the country on the new platform. (Dont get fooled by the transfer sections speed, wait for the aggro speed special tests).
You can also see LR on the TE310 (now mine) and Ajax WR300 pass the cam a few a few times, as well as myself doing the work on the TXC450 ( I am very happy with my speed compared to others in the same sections but with zero show, just my workman like style). I think also some other Husky riders are in as well (Nick G?). Even if you did not participate, If I owned a 449/511 I would get this video.
Also for all the Cafe Crew this the terrain type that my crew rides every weekend ( I really had home town/terrain advantage at this event).

Robert I got my Video yesterday nice shots and some great action of Nic Burson on the 511 in the trees.
BUT what I still do not understand even more so after watching the video is How someone like Nic who was the only person to race a 511 at the pro level and win races Even this race/enduro and the same weeken as the Husky National Sales track day which was being held at the same motorcycle track.
Was let go with out any talks and no offer for any Husky support in 2012
Now as far as i can see there is NO ONE racing a Husky at the pro level on the west coast the home of the new corporate offices

?? Biz is biz and none of us are privvy to the inner workings and personal relations. West needs to use larger cc machines, 450+ for the WORCS, H&H to race at the top tier level in those series, a more conventional chassis layout machine would be a better choice for instant glory, but in defense of the OEM they are reaching for a non-vanilla layout, something different and somewhat revolutionary. Imagine if Salvini and all the other top tier guys (Kamo, Bonds,Burson) just started winning on the new platform . Less race developement more ready to race would have been the safe engineering bet. Think how long it took KTM to reach the top tiers with the PDS machines right up until the latest re-intro of Kato rising rate linkage machines.
Stuff will happen when someone steps up, but the whole factory team thing is really a 1970-80s thing now.
Someone like Joe Gibbs has to decide he wants to create a new business (team) gather all his connections and media ties, speak with different OEMs to find the best product with best support package. By showing the OEM and sponsors what kind of exposure/ publicity/ branding they will get under the Gibbs banner etc etc etc.
Also see Cary Hart's, Hart and Huntington team ( I am very impressed by the former FMX guy's ability to get Dodge trucks and other high level sponsors on board, that guy is great biz man).
If I were going to build a strong west team right now my choices for instant moto competitiveness among the H&H W. HS, WORCS entries would be anyone of the big 5 and probably KHI would be the first choice with Y and H then Kato, Suz. Then you need riders that want ride for virtually no $ except contingentcy.......there is another issue in this crap game.
