• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Funny that they should mention 6th gear on the XC to be for hero's only because that was one of the most memorable things about my old XC. In 5th gear wound out it do about 95mph and then popping it into 6th it would almost lug the the down for second until it caught it's breath then it would begin accelerating so fast that you had to hang on tight and and shake the tears from you're eyes. I remember the first time I hit 6th gear and immediately realized "that's a gear that wouldn't see much use".:D

Love that year KTM 500. In 1985 Danny "Magoo" Chandler race the GP's with KTM. Had a chance to buy one a couple years ago, shoulda.....

Thanks for posting that up. I have that exact magazine I bought as new back in the day. Sounds funny to even say it that way, but I guess it was a while ago. Great article as I remember. Mine is boxed up in my collection that got to big. I'll dig it back out shortly.

I've just always remembered something being said like, the MXC and Husqvarna had about the same top speed in 5th gear, but the Husky has a 6th and will blah blah blah. Don't remember the rest. It was then, that I was like I've gotta have one of those badboys one day. Only saw a few in passing out at popular riding areas.
