• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

any one have a working Sem stator lying around? can't afford the electrex just yet and really want to kick my freshly built motor up!

cheers

I don't mean to sound negative Mork, but this part of the forum is "very" slow. Is there somewhere else this question could be asked?

hey guys I'm baaaaaaackkkkkk. I understand there's not much traffic here BUT. I have installed ignition and it kicks first kick every kick after a prime. which I'm chuffed with, however. it seems to be running pretty fecking hot. timing was set at 9 degrees btdc and it was my first time timing an ignition lol. I'm pretty sure it's not a carb issue as I haven't got around to jetting it properly yet and the jets in are toooo rich.

I have googled a million different topics trying to find out

just want to get this sorted before I start making the bike sing and maybe melt something. done a few runs up and down the street at 1/4 -1/3 throttle and it pulls like a champ 100mm piston adding some extra oomph maybe!

anyway enough of my rambling, if anyone could help I would VERY much appreciate it.

Retarding the ignition can make a four stroke run hot, I think they need way more advance than 9 degrees.
Tony.

cheers mate! it's the 610 iv got not the 510. should have specified my bad, from what I could find it was 9btdc for static or idle. I'm guessing that was for the sem though and mine is the electex.

I think you'll find that the 510 and 610 timing will be very similar, and don't forget that the electrex has an auto advance function so static timing will be different to the timing when running.
Did your Electrex come with instructions?
Tony.

thanks for getting back to me! the electrex unfortunately came with zero instructions and the website has the same zero instructions too. that's what making it so difficult. that and it a very new learning curve for me. I did read about some husaberg guys having to run their electrex near full retard for it to work properly. I didtn know the stator has an auto advance. could it be advancing too much as both the stator and cdi are advancing my ignition?

It sounds like the one on my 500 two stroke, set it around zero and it advances to the correct setting.
Tony.

just for future reference if anyone bumps into a this same problem. the ignition was too advanced at 9°. retarded a little and running much cooler.

cheers
TOP info. Thanks guys. Mork, did you also set it around zero ? Piston-info would also be appreciated ....... Looks like this electrex is oke-stuff, lucky to have one.
