• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Great idea but not a face book devotee. we have a news page on Cafe Husky to use if you wish

Just thinking out loud, how about we organise a Aussie East Coast Cafe Husky ride in either late October early November 2013 or late March early April 2014. Those times the weather is usually good and not to hot, and being that far away would give people plenty of time to organise themselves to make it to the ride.
Lets pick a central location like NSW. I'd love to ride places that I've seen so much about like the Watagans, Sunny Corner and Buladelah and probably heaps of others I can't think of at the moment, it could be a yearly event and change state each year, as I'm sure you've heard about the Victorian High Country and numerous other places we have down here.
So Aussie Husky riders what do you think I'm open to suggestions.
Being a dreamer maybe this could get big, with dealer/importer support it could go National and change state every year!

P.S someone slap me if I'm being stupid!

AHRC....change the Huskie to Husky!!!

310HuskyTE...I think you hit the nail on the head with the dealer/importer support!! If Pierer AG wants to build confidence in the brand in Australia, kick the arse out of PFG, or give it back to R&D, and organise a Husqvarna day where they could also do the launch of their new bikes. KTM/Husaberg can do their dirt days for riders to sample their bikes so PFG should do the same and your idea is a brilliant!!

NSW is pretty central since the Qld'ers have a far drive to Victoria as do the Victorian's to the SE or NE Qld.

Personally, October is good for me, in fact l do want to travel a bit interstate to do some riding so any excuse is good (love camping and riding).

Liked on FB. Like the idea of an organised ride, getting time off is another thing. If any of you Husky folk have kids, our club is focused on kids but we all ride. Check out my post in the Aussie planning section.

As far as i'm concerned Pierer AG needs to kick the arse out of DBW in Australia to build confidence, every issue i've had with warranty has been fixed to my 100% satisfaction and from my experience with PFG i cannot speak highly enough of them, or the support that i get from my dealer here in Melbourne, but maybe that's because i have the best dealer in Victoria close to me, i don't know. But show me another site here in OZ where Huskys are hated so much.
A certain group of people on DBW like to focus on negatives when it comes to Husqvarna and all the followers there, want to impress certain people so they join in the Husky bashing when they have never had any first hand experience with a Husqvarna bike.
like the old saying goes, throw enough mud and some of it will stick.
Last year PFG had a come and try day at Broadford MX track where you could sign up to ride every Husky in the 2012 line up maybe it was 2011 but i definitely remember it happening, just can't find a link to the day, but it was very successful and sales reflected that.
Pierer AG need to put PFG on notice that if they aren't doing all they can to promote the brand and can't meet sales targets then they will lose their contract with Husqvarna and it will be given to whoever will do what's needed to build the brand in Australia and promote it like never before.
Now to my idea, in a perfect world Pierer AG would come in from day one and support the ride, but that isn't going to happen.
It needs to be built up by grass roots Husky riders with a lot of hard work and slowly gain some momentum so that the Factory/dealers/importer takes notice and decides to support something that is only going to benefit the company in the fastest growing Husqvarna market in the world!
If some people put a lot of work in then i think this has the potential to be pretty big, or maybe i'm just off with the fairies again!

I have no real issues with PFG as l don't own a modern Husky and they do have to be congratulated for running the factory Husky team in Australia and for trying to build the brand in this country - all credit to them!!
My only issue is PFG not trying to lure Merriman to the Husky team or using Damien Smith to promote the brand...if anything, their promotion of the brand isn't too strong, it's more of the name will sell the brand....if you have a strong and penetrating forum like DBW, they should at least try and quell the husky bashing crap by responding, possibly building a rep that PFG listen's to it's market with the perception that Husqvarna listen's to it's people....dunno, hope they use Matt Phillips well.
In fact, the more people say to me 'You should buy a KTM' .... l feel sick...

Who is PFG?

In addition, this thread really is not really a ride report, nor planning a specific ride (if it was then it could go into the Get togethers - Planning) ... I'll move this over to the General (Main) for the moment because that is the place for things that do not fit well into the other categories.

They are very good points you make about promoting Husqvarna in Australia, maybe you should be in charge of PFG's marketing department.

Coffee, PFG is the Paul Feeney Group, they are the Australian importer and distributor of Husqvarna motorcycles

LoL... if l was in marketing l'd love that challenge but l, like yourself, can only speculate on how the brand can grow better in Australia!!

Coffee...sorry for digressing!!!

Happy to participate. I know the Watagans and Clarence really well (also Vic high country around Bright).

Chuck me bike in a bigrig and head for the southern sisiter state to roost some cockroaches:applause: I"M in like flyn!!!

Watagans, I am in. And on the pfg thing, if it wasn't for a fantastic local dealer I wouldn't have much to say about our favourite red brand. Pfg has not made much of an impression on me.
