• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bar mount position: Fore/Aft, up/down?

I've always run my Husky handlebars in the low (no spacer) aft (closest to the tank) position. Since I acquired a MotoSportz steering damper, I had to move the bars to what amounts to the 'high' position. Since I had them off, I thought what the heck, I'll try the forward position. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet to try it out.

Is there any consensus on handlebar mounting position? Do you run yours high or low, forward or back?

I run mine high and very far forward, with a pretty straight bend in the bar. I have it setup so it is more comfortable for standing than sitting as I like to stand up as much as I can.

Forward and high on the 510

Back and low for me on the 250. Used to run high and forward on the 450 to fit the underbar Scotts. I like back and low much better, I'm only 5'7".

At 5ft. 5 in., I usually run bars low and as close to me as I can get them, unless they are on my KDX220. Then I had to get them further away from me.

I used to ride mine low and back...started riding faster, more aggressively and needed to stand. Since then my bars have migrated up and forward!

mine r wanting to go up and forward, but i didn get any spacers, are they sposed to be in the bag with the extra hardware?

i'll see if tool and die will make me some

Careful running those tall spacers with long bolts. I have a buddy who did this and snapped the bolt right off in a crash.

Mine are regular size length and I bent the crap out of one on a crash in August. On the plus side, nothing else was damaged!
