• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Batties

I have had good luck with the Shorai LFX Lithium battery myself in my BMW G450X for over 4+ years and still going strong. I keep it plugged into a cheap Cycle Gear copy of a Battery tender to maintain it.

I've have one of the largest size "Earth-X" lithium batteries in my 2010 Harley FLTRX Roadglide for about 3 years now and its still as good as new. Its sits outdoors all the time and I use a Battery Tender on it as well so the theft alarm/security system doesn't drain it down.

I run a "Tusk" Lithium battery in my 15" FE501 Husqvarna and have been for coming up on 18 months. I have seldom ever even plugged it in even when it sits for extended periods.

You will find that just about any of the small compact Lithium batteries will serve you well.

Ive been using earthx for years on several bikes. Always cranks up and I've never used a tender or anything. I do ride all year but probably only comes out to once per month.

My Earthx has never seen a tender or charger of any kind. It is 6 years old now and still going strong.

Stock on my 2015 and still going strong but I don’t have a fan or any gadgetry on it. When the time comes I’ll go earth x but till then I ain’t fixing what ain’t broke. Never been plugged in once.

I'll say this again since I don't want to see anyone else go through a bad experience like I had, stay away from ballistic EVO batteries! Total trash and the customer service is poor along with a pro rated warranty from hell...
Earth X or Shorai all the way.

I noticed that the 2018 version of my 300 comes with a factory battery charging plug dongle attached. I have a big shorai in my SM. Smaller in capacity than the LA oem but works noticably better. Cam.
