  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

best bark busters for Husky TE310?

what are you using and the best price your aware of? I want a full metal framed style guard.

HDB, they are not cheap, but I've seen nothing built nearly as well.

the ego are also nice. they're similar to the Rocky Mtn Tusk brand. do the RM Tusk guards fit well? are the Rocky Mtn Tusk brand decent quality?

I had rocky mountain tusk brand on my YZ before the cycra's on my husky. I had fewer problems bending them than I've had with bending my cycra's. The cycra's have bent in wrecks causing issues with the levers.... never had that problem with the tusk's.

The HDB's look even better though.

I have the HDB's with BRP triple and sub mount with a scotts.

that's good to hear:applause: I sure wish somebody come up with something for the 610

Paul's supposedly working on a complete solution in-house as well. dunno the eta.

HDB's +++++++

HDB's all the way! I'm going to replace the Cycra's on the 510 with the HDB setup too. They fit so well on the 250 they are essentially a 2nd set of handlebars. Rock solid. Proprietary clamp spacing is used but included with kit. Seems expensive but I feel it's an investment.

HDB is OVERPRICED for what they are. The Cycra Pro-bends are the best by far. 101.96 a set and 14.78 for the lo-profile guards. Way under the price of the HDB set up. I have had them on my 08/TE450 with many of ground pounding, and not once have they bent. Best bang for the buck, zero interruption with any other type of gear (Damper, Mirrors, Levers, etc.) My opinion though.

I am happy with my Moose (same as Enduro Engineering) Evolution Handguards. The scratches tell a story. No levers replaced yet (knock on wood).

Gary,

I beg to disagree with you brotha:cheers: Cycra's are cheaper, but I didn't have to bend ANYTHING to make my HDB's fit, and they are very robust. They cost more because they include 2 sets of handguard covers (black and white) upper and lower clamps that don't match stock Husky spacing, unfortunately and...... You have to tap your stock bars with the INCLUDED tap for the threaded inserts. A very quality oriented setup.

Left side from txc 250, no adjustment needed for regular install. Took the retractable mirror option for some reason:excuseme:. Bar end is secured into handlebar with threaded insert; inboard portion of guard is secured to upper handlebar clamp.

Pic of the center. I took some options and got the Trailtech computer guard thrown in to the mix.

I had a little more work installing the Cycras on the ole 510. Took some washers and bending to get this.

Same for clutch side.

I've beaten the living shit out of the 510's Cycras and they've held up pretty good. One of the bar end screws got tweaked after backing out on a trip to Reiter and a follow on crash. The end guards are torn up but they are sacrificial and replaceable.

My bar end screws will now stay put because they're threaded into the bar and locktite'd. I don't have to tweak stinking U-clamps any more because they aren't used on HDB's.

If there is any discrepancy in the order with HDB, just email them. They are VERY responsive to issues!

And, I have a soft spot for Colorado based stuff :D j/k

+1 the HDB's would be more expensive IF they were just handguards.

But for like $300 total I got Handguards, 2 folding mirrors, a custom top clamp, Aluminium Dash protector with an iPod remote and key locator, front and rear LED turn signals and bar risers.

All things considered, they are a deal. And, even if you count them as just guards, yeah, they are probably worth the extra money:cool:

I have tried them all and LOVE the HDB's, have three sets now. Excellent mounting system, no cable interference, very well thought out.

Not Cheaper! They are WAY less expensive. My cable routing and all had zero problems. No additional washers, bending, nothing. Bolt and go, same as the set I put on the Honda's. The only thing I don't like about them is how big the stock Deflectors are, so I ordered the lo-profile ones. Must be a So. Cal., PNW thing. LOL

Cycra Pro Bends with the center reach mount have served me well the last couple of years. I do like the idea of the threaded bar mount og the HDB's though. Might try the HDB's out if the Cycra's ever break or bend beyond repair.
