• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bike died at speed-help

Hi All,

New Strada owner here. I bought a 2013 with about 17,000 miles on it and have ridden it about 500 miles on my own. I have experience the low speed stall a few times, but that can usually be avoided with aggressive clutch/throttle work.

Today, on the interstate into work, doing about 70 mph, all of the instrument panel lights lit up and the bike completely died. I coasted to the shoulder and was about to call roadside assistance since I figured it was a catastrophic failure. I fired up it up, just to see if it would work and it fired fine. I rode the rest of the way into work with no problems (about another 15 min).

It was not hot outside and traffic was very light, so overheating should not be an issue.

I'm hoping it was a one-off foul-up, but makes me a bit nervous. Anyone have insight?

I'm at the office, so no real time to trouble shoot. I fired it up and shut it off in the garage a few times, just to make sure it would fire up after work.

Any ideas?

There is a connection right behind the head light that has given some people trouble similar. Try checking battery connections etc. checking any aftermarket installs and possible wire connections and pinching

Sounds like the ECU going through it's startup/self checking routine, so you're looking for something that will cause that to happen. Start at the battery and fusebox, check the battery terminals for a good connection. Right behind the battery under a clear plastic cover is the main 30A fuse. The one on the RHS is the active fuse, and the LHS is a spare. Also check the terminals under that cover are tight. In the fuse box, the #1 fuse (7.5A fuse closest to the LEFT rear of the bike) is the dash fuse.
