  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Blow seals, can someone point me in the right direction for better seals?

yep was only a matter of time, the front zokes blew today after a few hard landings over dunes. I dont know which seal goes when this happens but is there any recommendations for seals that are better than the factory issue?

Would be a big help :)

I think the 'Zoke seals are actually of high quality. Others with more expertise will chime in I'm sure but I have been told not to waste time with alternatives and stick with the OEM seals.

Do you have fork bleeders? Getting in the habit of tapping the bleeders to relieve the pressure build-up does wonders for seal life.

I had fork bleeders on my 510 TXC and didnt have any issues with blown seals. This happened on the WR300 today which doesnt have them. I was thinking this may have something to do with it :( Dam anoying when something like this is totally preventable (assuming bleeders are the cure).

If factory ones are the go I will order them online. As there are a number of seals, do you know the part number for the one that blows?

oem's are ok but make sure you don't lose outer spring on dust seal,by the time i noticed it was laying at the bottom of fork ,the seal was already leaking. i did not have good luck with all ballz seals that were professionally installed but s*#$ happens.

Not much feedback so I will take your advice and go with the factory seals.

dropped off my forks to the dealer today.
Chasing bleeders now as the thread is dam small on these ones.
;)

You might always want to clean them before replacing unless you just wanna have UR forks looked at and cleaned by a shop ... We all probably need to clean our forks more often ... Mine (and other seals on my bike) will leak after mudding the bike .. Cleaning them stops the leaks ... pressure build up might be an issue but even then, releasing the pressure should point to a possible easy fix ... weekly just loosen the cap on them or what ever they need if you do not have bleeders

That seal is nothing but a piece of rubber with a steel rubber band around it holding it tightly on to the tube ... high tech? not hardly but it works and has been used forever almost ...

I have 3 rides in on my 3rd set of seals, so far so good. They are the All-balls, as stated in other threads they add more sticion, I can live with that if they dont leak.
