  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Buying a TE

Husky TE450

Husqvarna
How is everyone? I have not purchased the bike yet, but I am planning on it soon. I wanted to throw a post up on a forum and see what other guys have to say. I know I haven't checked it out yet, but from the pics and what the guy says everything is fine. I found the bike on craigslist and it is an 07 TE450 with about 1200 miles on it. He has it listed as $2800 and he said he would negotiate from there. I thought that seemed cheap? But the reason is he has to pay it off still. But if the bike is in great condition which it appears, is that a good buy?

07 TE 450's are bullet proof. Only caveat is servicing, oil and air filter regime. If it can be demonstrated as adhered to then you will have a trouble free bike.

The bike sounds great to me. :)

And no fuel pump/efi issues to worry about.

But, regarding the lien you mentioned... about a year ago I bought a car with a lien on it, and while everyone was honest and cooperative, it was a bit of a pain. It was not a simple process as I recall, and when I filled out the odometer reading on the pink slip in less than perfect penmanship.... that caused more problems.

That was the first time I'd ever bought a vehicle with a lien on it, so maybe others (or you) would know more.

Other than having those crumbly Alexon radiators on that year model, the bike is terrific. If I had to do it all over again, I would still pick the 07 over an 08 or later.

It could be too good to be true. Watch yourself.:busted:

I just sold my 07 KTM200 for 2750 to help purchase my 2010 TE310. That does seem kinda cheap for a 450, but some people are cool and don't try to get the world for them either. Check it out good. Pictures are good, but they don't show ring life!

Dang, that's a good deal! I would've picked it up as a second bike for that kind of money. Was it an XCW?

XC, and it was loaded. GP damper, Bullet Proof guards, all of the normal protection. I take care of my bikes, so it went fast. I don't try to get top dollar, just a fair price to me. I could have parted out the damper and other stuff and made 400 more bucks, but I am lazy.

Guy bought it was happy. Had to thin the heard, I can only fit 6 bikes in my garage and I really wanted that TE310! I still have my 07 525EXC for my DUal SPort bike. The 310 is my new Enduro/race bike. 200 is a sweet little bike for sure.
