• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cagiva's first MX appearance on American Sports Cavalcade

sweet! i remember watching this in '87 :D

makes me want to dig out all those old VHS tapes with MotoWorld episodes and Carlsbad races. loved that track!

..watched this vid a few times, but caught a glimpse of what appears to be a gas can just behind the front wheel at around minute 5:38 that looks to have a Husky logo on it!

Quite a race and not sure I've ever met a real Cagiva ... I do remember getting a part with that brand though ... 6:32 mark the #28 rider looks almost like he chops the throttle going over that short jump in order to get his front tire set up for that turn ...

White was the color of the day?

--

Did a little reading on Kalos rider ... He talks about the starter worker has changed since his days ...

How do you think the sport has changed?
Man, it’s just a different scene. When I was racing, the starter was a middle-aged ref with a gut and uniform. Today you have this girl wearing a tight outfit holding a board covered with sponsor stickers.

nothing wrong with that at all, i rode one of the last straight cagiva 250 bikes as it felt great...always wanted an italian bike to complement my swedes. i really view my 95 as a cagiva more than anything..

When this was originally aired we had to laugh saying the Cagiva's were brand new to the US. We were racing Cagiva's back in 83 in the Southern California Desert. Being truthful, it was a better Desert Bike than a Motocross Bike. In 84 the WMX125 won the points Championship in the Score Series. That bike is sitting in my garage and will be getting a full restoration soon.
