• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Of course they're going to take OHV money. They can't balance the budget, can't get new taxes passed, and are running out of places to make cuts. OHV is like a trust fund baby.

Been following this for a couple of months now. It is not the first time that the state government has raided the fund. The thing is that it isn't from a general tax fund. We offroaders have to pay a fee for the red and green stickers that is supposed to go to the creation and upkeep of public land riding areas. So when I bought any of my trail bikes, I paid for that specific privilege that was supposed to be guaranteed....Now it would seem that the money I gave the state would be for no reason at all.

They want to use the funds to keep the ailing state park system open. It's odd that they charge people fees for day use and to camp in a lot of these places, but still can't make ends meet. Maybe they ought to make the "nature lovers" all pay a yearly 25 dollar fee for the state parks also. They must outnumber us offroaders tenfold at least. Think of all the income that would generate!

OHV pays a yearly fee (registration) plus a fee to go ride (except in some places).

I don't think non-OHV parks would get away with the yearly fee approach. But they could charge a fee to park and a fee to use.

We pay for the OHV parks. They should pay for their parks. Clearly the current system is not making state parks self sustainable. Stealing money from OHV isn't going to solve the problem and it's going to screw over OHV seriously. The state already owes OHV $160 million from previous loans. Now they aren't taking loans, they're just stealing it.

Fix the state park fee system or close state parks. Robbing Peter (OHV) to pay Paul (State Parks) is a stupid, naive idea.

Our district ranger has come up with a plan to thwart the government. He has gotten volunteers to take care of our riding area down here. I know, I am one of them. I am one of a handful of dedicated people who come out several times a year and break trail, clear trail and repair trail at Corral Canyon. The government may not spend my money on my riding land, but I'll be darned if I am going to stand by and let it just slip away.:naughty:

If the general population were treated like us "special use" groups, they would think twice about who they elected to run this asylum.

I want to get hunderds of the yellow triangle " OHV stickers" and place them at EVERY strae park I drive by. There are some state parks near by.

Does this mean I can ride my evil OHV in all state parks now? FAT CHANCE!!

AFAIC, If OHV funds are going to a park, then OHVs have a right to ride there.

Old news, they keep raiding the fund. I have a thought though, if they raid the fund then they will not have the money to build more fencing and LEO's wages. Sound like a good thought?

How about get some stickers printed that say 'If your enjoying this park thank the OHV Green Sticker Fund for paying to keep this park in operation. Please enjoy yourself.'

Tastefully display them in appropriate areas as needed....??
