• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The Senate may take action on legislation affecting the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) as early as next week. We need your help to save the program now!

Please click the following link to send a message to your Senators urging their support for dedicated funding for the RTP.

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP), which is arguably the most important government program ever created to benefit motorized recreation, faces elimination. As you know the RTP has funded the development and maintenance of thousands of miles of motorized trails. Senate transportation reauthorization legislation known as MAP-21, which has already passed a key Senate Committee, would effectively eliminate the RTP by stripping the program of its funding.

But, there is good news! Senator Amy Klobuchar (D, MN) intends to offer an amendment to MAP-21 that will restore dedicated funding for the RTP. MIC's Government Relations office has been working the Hill on this issue for the past 2 years to build support for RTP and to find Members of Congress to advocate for the program. We're excited that Senator Klobuchar will be a champion for RTP.

MIC's Public Lands Arm, Americans for Responsible Recreational Access (ARRA), has issued an alert to grassroots urging support for the Klobuchar amendment. By clicking on the above link you will access the alert and can send a message to your Senators. If you aren't already signed up for ARRA, now is your chance. ARRA is free to join and provides an easy way to weigh in with decision makers on issues of importance to our industry.

Thank you,

MIC Member Services

Sent my message, having the same problem in Fl on the state level. They have stolen about 3 mil from the trail program here.... pretty pitiful.

This sort of thing is a daily occurrence in California. Our trails are constantly threatened here. It's very demoralizing.

I sent my message...

Great... two of the most rabid and misinformed greenies in the entire Senate. Guaranteed to be round filed. I vote against them every year, but the idiots here in California keep voting them in.

You might as well have asked the Devil for a glass of ice water!

Sent in also. May not help but we need to show support. With silence we are not even here.

We need to fight for our trails.

Dear Mr. Franklin Jr:

Thank you for your letter concerning an amendment introduced by Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota to the Senate surface transportation bill. I appreciate hearing from you.

The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) was introduced by Senator Barbara Boxer of California. MAP-21 is a two-year reauthorization of the Federal-Aid Highway Program that would maintain current funding levels. The Act would continue to give states federal money for use on local transportation enhancement projects, and it would provide states with additional flexibility in how to spend these funds.

Senator Klobuchar sponsored an amendment to MAP-21 that addresses the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). Under the amendment, the RTP would receive $85,000,000 in funding for 2012 and 2013. The amendment would direct half of the funds to be distributed equally among all 50 states, and the other half would be distributed based on a state’s use of non-highway recreational fuel, which is fuel used for off-road recreation by snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, off-road motorcycles, and off-road light trucks.

I will keep your views in mind as the discussion about MAP-21 continues.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Durbin
United States Senator

I received a quick response from Sen Rubio but nothing from Sen Nelson, he's probably too busy trying to figure out how to get re-elected. lol

I didn't get any response from the OK senators, may have to try sending again. I always recevied at least an auto response when sending stuff to the KS senators before moving down here. Hey, I think I will send one refencing my wife's e-mail address and our old house address in KS!!:D

If they listened to their constituent and voted based on their interests, reelection wouldn't be a problem. Vote accordingly in the next election. If they ignore rider's interests, vote em out!

Shoot, I missed the 100th person. I owe someone. Pm me if you were the 100 person and I'll mail something out. Looking for #500 now.
