• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Calling all wise good look men who can wrench

sorry took mine to the local shop, they removed that and the flywheel for ten dollars, it gave them a bit of a scare when it eventually lets go it does so with a bang.

I tried a 3 prong puller and penetrating spray but was leary of applying heat for fear of damaging the seal.

This is what i was thinking of doing:
Lay bike on its side and fill case with oil to submerge seal then hit it with my mapp gas torch little by little, and pray!

I always use a 2-3 puller. Tighten it to put tension on it. I use an air chisel with the pointed or blunt end tip. Tap gear with air chisel in middle of gear between teeth and crankshaft. Pops right off with lil vibration.

BRILLIANT! your mom must be so proud of you!

C.H. Staff:
Can we Give dartyppyt trophy points and a C. H. mug?

My air Chisel will appreciate the us time.

Do i need to use a gasket to seal the clutch side case or can i use gear oil resistant silicone letting it has time to skin over then torque down, just wondering if the gasket had a clearance duty also.

Mine just kind of popped and did not go anywhere. But then I make a point of not having my face over a loaded puller

Ok, here are a couple of pictures showing the tools that i used to remove my stuck primary gear that i was unable to remove just using my 3 prong puller.

I only needed to put maybe about 20 Ft. lbs. of torque on the puller screw and a couple of quick blips of the air chisel and it popped right of.
using a piece of rubber hose to overlap the blunt nose air chisel rod and the puller screw so the rod wouldnt bounce around.

This is the hot set up for removing any gear while only wearing safety glasses.by hiting it on the end of the puller you are centering the force and not marking your gear, pretty cool huh?

I think trophy points are due to dartyppyt for the original idea that i eventually tweeked to perfection, thanks to all for your imput!
