• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I am new to this forum so sorry if this question was asked before.
I am considering to buy a TC 510 1988 but i really do not like the look and i prefer the 1987 look.
Are tank, seat, shrouds interchangeable between these models or do i need to change other elements as well?
thanks

I'm not real familiar with the 4 strokes, but it looks like you are wanting to do the oposite of what I did to my auto. I went form 86 plastics to 87 plastics. The problem you are going to have is tank mounts are different. The 87 has a long bolt that runs through frame on the front / bottom of the tank. The frame has a sleeve welded in it for strength. The 88 has two round plastic mounts in the rear, that would have to removed. The front mount is totally different but could be removed as well. Also check the air box and see if they are different. Here is a pic from my thread in vintage restorations http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/1986-430-auto-resto.21749/

You can see all the mounts the top front mount and rear mounts for the 87 2 stroke and the hole in the frame to the right of the top(right) radiator mount is the hole for the 86 2 stroke mount. There is no rear mount for the 86. I had no problems bolting up the rest of the plastic and seat. The radiator mounts were in the same locations. It could be done with some work. Although in my opinion the 88 is a beter design.
