• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Canister delete, re-route of the dumb wiring...

So in addition to the standard canister delete I had to do something about the terrible wiring on/around/all over the right hand side of the bike. Cut the regulator bracket and got rid of the dumb cover thing, relocated the horn to the garbage can. Things are much cleaner.

While I was at it I put my new skid plate on (thanks motosportz, looks great! Very stout) and put these renthal twinwalls on. It's sweet that they come with the crossbar installed. I used protaper risers and just adapted them to fit. They end up being 1/4" higher than stock and the bend of these has less sweep. Very comfortable.

Which model of Twinwalls is that ?

Those are 998's. Wyndham bend. I think I copied member wadejesu's setup. Well, the bars, I used different risers.

Those are the right parts. I machined some aluminum adapters to fit but in the end I decided to make the threaded holes on the lower clamp piece (that are centered on the clamp) thru holes. I'm not using the second set of holes that are typically used to attach these to the existing clamps (they are offset and don't line up anyhow). All I did was use longer bolts and made 4 stainless steel spacers to my desired height. Works like a charm. If I confused ya I can take better pics. I wouldn't have gone through the trouble but all my bikes have these clamps and I like them.
