  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
Hey guys, just got my license a little over a week ago and have been riding my husky every minute I can. The starter switch acted weird on the 2nd or third time I took her for a spin, it wouldn't turn over or do anything when I hit the button, but on the second press of the button she started right up. It's been doing that more and more frequently, sometimes it will start first try, sometimes 10 mins into hitting the button she ll start up, and a few times I've had to kick or bump start it. I don't know if it's simply the battery is dead, or if it is an electrical issue. As long as the starter motor starts working she fires right up. Headlights and speedo are working, I can turn the ignition on and everything else functions properly. I bought it with 660 miles, so it doesn't have a lot of time on it, and I've put about 300 miles on it since. Took sandpaper to the battery connectors in case it was corrosion. Now I'm not sure what the cause of the problem is, and having put everything I have into the bike I can't afford to have a shop look it over or buy a battery if that is not the issue. Do you guys have any suggestions on anything to look for to hopefully get me back on 2 wheels?
Thanks!

Dipped into the money I've been setting aside for gear and decided to get a charger. Gave it a go this morning, no luck. Bought a new battery, still not starting...

check the rubber boot that connects the throttle body to the head....they split OldHuskyRider has some good pics, check his "living with a te450" thread.

Check grounds, some under the tank, the main battery ground as well.

Here's under the tank: 4 blue ground wires united at a ring connector, broken.

Main battery ground was so loose in the connection, it pulled right out
