  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Chain guide blocks 1978 390

Auto Lover ...
Anyone know where I can get a pair of the rubber chain guide blocks under the frame ?
Part number 15 15 190-01
Mine have gone west !

Thanks Bill. I have asked the seller for the shipping cost to the UK. I have, however picked up a brand new old stock chain guide block complete with nylon runners, side plates and genuine Husky bolt. Collected it this afternoon, and fitted in 5 minutes. All for the princely sum of £30.... bargain ! What it is to be able to pick up old parts from a supplier on your doorstep.

Glad you found one close to home, the same guy had the whole block assembly a couple of weeks ago for around $30 I should have bought it.

Ok .... time has moved on and the nice o.e set I had are wearing. Much thanks to the granite "sand". I did a bit of research and have machined about 10 blocks.
I will fit a pair this week and see how they fair at the weekend. I cannot believe they are not available anywhere. There must be thousands of ML framed Husky's out there !

The new chain guide blocks have been well and truly tested. I have done about the same mileage as I had with the o.e ones before they wore out. The new ones have very little wear, and seem to be just bedding in nicely.

I have machined the rest of the material and have enough blocks for 24 sets. Supplied with new M5 stainless bolts and nyloc nuts. Give me a few days and I will work out the cost.

Back when Kent was running around on a 360/390.. Eric did away with the bottom block and installed a roller... you can get a modern roller with a bearing in the middle now and replace the bottom wear block.. much nicer... KTM have a small roller with a raised middle ridge for the chain to run on as well.. I think you can get an All Balls one as aftermarket..
