• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Check this quick vid of the 511, pretty cool...

Yeah, he can ride (a little). I do those twisted stoppies all the time (when I'm dreaming). Actually I end up in a clump at the bottom of the hill even in my deams!

Chris is great rider/performer, seen him do his show at a few different venues, plus he's not only a stunt rider,

Not to change topic...but.. When he grabbs the front brake and it squeals...my 300 does that a lot on mtn single track. Last year I lost my front brake right after a bunch of squealing on a long downhill section. I got lucky and didn't go off a cliff. I re bled it and it was fine. But now every time I hear that noise I get paranoid. Should I be or just re bleed brakes every couple months and I will be fine? Before that I hadn't bled he brakes for over a year so hoping it's just that...

My 630 front brake used to howl like a freight train. New brake pads (EBC X) solved that problem.

Squealing and over heating and cooking the oil are two different things. Squeals are usually from pad material and nothing to worry about. If you boil your brakes a lot switch to 5.1 fluid.

EBC carbon X the red pads(good enough for the javelin, Randy Hawkins and his am-pro yam riders)
so, use these products
http://www.ebcbrakes.com/motorcycle_brake/sintered_brake_pads/carbon_mx_tt_pads/carbonmx.shtml
combined with this
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/72/21098/ITEM/Motul-RBF-660-Pro-Racing-Brake-Fluid.aspx

you will never have any issues again. also change and bleed your fluid regularly (most pro race teams do it before/after every race). And monitor your pad wear these do wear faster the sintered metal.

those may works well for you where it is dry. I hated those in the wet. I stay away from anything that says Carbon on it now. I use the sintered cheapo and find those work best int he wet conditions we have.

Silly question but how would you know difference while riding? Thx

Motosportz is correct for mud/wet the reds will burn through rapidly and most likely not get enough heat. solid rotors aint a bad idea for wet/muddy areas and sintered metal is probably best for low wear and good stopping in the mud/wet stuff.

vinduro has a really thread on this subject. Also a good consultation with a local pro team mech or rider is good local knowledge thing to do.

When your brakes are hot the fade and then stop working :D

Right and if you continue to boil the fluid enough times, your brakes will finally just lock one day because the fluid just goes to crap finally ... At least mine did ... The fix? Change the brake fluid ...

A good and easy idea to change the fluid is to just use the bleeder valve to pump the fluid out ... Be careful not to pump too much fluid out each time and add new fluid as the MC needs it .. This way you can cycle the fluid through the system and NOT introduce air into the brake line ...

I drag my rear brake alot over rough stuff to help keep the rear end planted and I'm riding alot in mountains so downhills are everywhere ... So I'm a boiler that is tired of buying pads so often ... My advise to anyone but racer guys is to keep your foot off the brake so much ... Thats my new philosophy ...
